  1. Back in the day, (half a century ago) we used sulphur like crazy. We stopped because there is no way to transform the smell. It is not pleasant.

    1. Years ago, I used a sulfur mask from Peter Thomas Roth. I kept it on hand at ALL times because it use to shrink hugh bumps overnight… thankfully it didn’t really have a bad smell

Maybe a tiny drop of peppermint oil would help products that have the strong stinky sulfur smell🤔

    2. Come on now. You know what I was talking about. Sulphur is a compound we need for hair growth. I use MSM now, but Sulphur 8 works!

  2. Petroleum Jelly is the best. I haven’t used aquaphor but I use regular Vaseline or Cerave healing ointment. As I’m getting older, my skin is getting drier and PJ has helped tremendously. Especially with the icy weather we’ve had down here in Florida, It definitely saved my skin from the icy winds and the heater that removed what little moisture I had in my skin. I won’t ever be without it.

    1. Same. I’m in Miami. I use a thick moisturizer at night with a thing b layer of Vaseline over it. Same with my hands at night and I use cotton sleeping gloves at few times a week.

  3. I had to use aquaphor during radiation. It was wonderful. I also started using it as a base before I put on makeup. There’s really no need to use anything else. It leaves a smooth finish. A little goes a long way.

    1. On her tik tok she has another video that goes into details but she’s had a long journey of seborrheic dermatitis

    2. On another video on her TikTok she shows what happens when she stops using the sulfur and aquafor after a few days. Her seborrheic dermatitis starts flaring up around her eyes, nose and mouth, and her skin becomes really dry.
It may not be for everyone but it can definitely be helpful for those with any skin condition that causes inflammation.

  4. Dr. Dray, this came at an opportune time! I hope you or someone can chime in: 1. There’s a new Prequel low percentage Sulfur cleanser that’s supposed to be good for all skin types. 2. Would you recommend a low dose sulfur cleanser for mid 50s, menopausal, sensitive, dry and probably dehydrated “thyroid disease” skin with Vaseline Petroleum Jelly? (Many can’t use Aquaphor due to the allergy you mentioned.) Thank you to anyone who answers! Note: PLEASE NO “CASTOR OIL/ELECTROLYTES/BEEF TALLOW” COMMENTS.

  5. Aquaphor is the only thing I can put around my skin around the eyes. I tried so many oils and eye creams and always end up with an allergic reaction in my eyes!

  6. My dad still uses Sulphur 8 religiously. That and Murray’s hair pomade in the orange tin. Every now & then, some Blue Magic. You can imagine what his bathroom smells like 😂 IYKYK

    1. @Thefreeman2026 Yes, he very much is lol I don’t know any white folks (or other non-Black folks) who use Blue Magic for anything. He uses the Sulfur 8 to help with dry scalp. It’s a medicated hair conditioner.

    2. I knew your dad was a black man for your description. Your wonderfully detailed description brought back a core memory of my stepdad getting ready in the morning. Thank you!

    1. Yes I’ve seen it at CVS – it’s in the Spanish aisle if anyone wants to try it. It’s not w all the face cleansers. At least that’s how it is at my local CVS.

  7. Just a side note though if you plan to use sulfur, remember to remove your silver jewellery because sulfur reacts with silver and tarnishes it 😂

    1. I wear little silver hoops in my ears and almost never change them out. I gave up trying to keep them polished, so they are always black now, lol. Sulfur is worth it!

  8. I used Proactiv’s sulfur mask back in the day! I think it was a free gift when you got the kit. It smelled awful but worked well!

  9. those that live in Europe, Aquaphor is sold under the brand Eucerin. But it’s pretty much the same thing, even the type font is the same

    1. Eucerin company makes Aquafor. Eucerin cream is a thick white lotion and Aquafor is a clear ointment. That’s the difference in the US.

  10. I swear by both sulfur and aquaphor. I have rosacea and chronically dry skin. I don’t always use sulphur wash but aquaphor is a daily must for me. I wear it on my eyelids and under eye and on sub zero temp days I dab it on the apples of my cheeks.
