Hi I’m LORETTA DLR using Frank’s account with his permission. That daughter has no RESPECT. My mother and Dad never smelled bad in their older years. People need to keep up their hygiene. I believe people in nursing homes might have this problem because they dont bathe them right! And Not regularly. SHAME ON THESE NURSING HOMES. THIS IS SUCH A LIE. 🤲🙏
@@frankvelez4997 why you even use franks account and need permission to comment, cant you just do it with your own account? 😭😭 and you dont need to tell anyone your name, this is youtube 😭
Yes, that must be true. My grandmother died at age 96, and I spent a lot of time with her over the years, giving her lots and lots of hugs. I NEVER once noticed any type of “off” odor from her, but she was meticulous about her hygiene and took care of her appearance.
I think it has to do with hygiene. Some elderly people are disabled, or just get to the point of where they are not able to shower properly because of balance, eyesight, arthritis, what have you.
I feel for people as they age. It’ll happen to all of us eventually.
The only negative smell I ever notice re some older people is urine leakage. Trying to get older men, esp., to use hygienic undergarments can be a real challenge though. Their pride is at stake but you have to be firm & real with them about how noticeable & offensive the leakage is to others. It takes time & patience.
The young dad might have a sinus, tooth, or periodontal disease, which they can affect sense of smell. The young dad should get himself checked out, instead.
Honestly, yeah. People dismiss the little disruptions to everyday things too often. If something that you never noticed before suddenly started becoming more apparent, it might be time to get checked.
In my experience with three grandparents in their 90s, so long as they wash regularly, it’s barely noticeable. One grandma washed every day and didn’t have a smell. My other grandma and grandpa would only shower a couple of times a week due to fatigue and stubbornness and they had a definite smell.
In the Philippines, we call old people “amoy lupa na” which roughly translates to “he already smells like the soil” which fully meant they’re soon to die/be buried, ⚰️ hence the “smells like soil” context. UNHINGED.
@@janeem4371what’s funny is that most of the time it’s them saying it in the context of they’re too old to be doing grander things like starting a business, continuing a business etc. It’s a way of saying their time has already passed, both in a good and sometimes in a bad way.
I’ve seen and heard some people making cracks about older people smelling as well as other things. I never really understood it because these people themselves will be older someday and will be experiencing these same changes, maybe even worse. It’s not like they somehow are getting out of it.
Can’t wait till you younger people get older. Our society has a long way to go in dealing with aging, both inside and out. Whether it’s dementia or doing Botox and fillers, focus on quality of life.
No, it’s not that. Your sweat becomes more waxy and it gets into your clothing and even on fabric furniture. It’s a different scent than “needs to bathe.” It’s slightly different and I know because I am dealing with it myself.
This was hilarious….my dad recently asked me the same thing… but about the house, not “him”. They had a little dog with a potty problem at the time. I reassured both my parents, it was definitely the dog!
My husband is going through this at 45 and it is so weird. It is like his hair smells dirty all of the time no matter what he uses or how clean his hair is. We have tried nizoral and enzyme cleanser such as nature’s miracle, but only the nature’s miracle and a scalp oil from The Rootist (sephora) have helped at all, but it still smells by the end of the day. His pillows, his shirts…I have to wash his pillowcases every other day.
I agree with the other comments. It’s a faint urine leakage, sweat, and powder smell. Even if they sweat less. It’s common and I’m sure bathing daily would help.
Dude is like 51. My mother is in her 80s and always smells poppin. Of course she always had nice perfumes and layered them and just always had a great routine.
I suspect the smell is nonenal. Regular shower gels can’t fully remove it from the skin. As I understand it, the tannin in the persimmon soap dissolves nonenal and slows down its production. If anyone wants to try Japanese body washes designed to eliminate an “old people smell”, here are two suggestions : 1. Rohto Deoco Medicated Body Cleanse and 2. Kose DEOCARAT Medicated Body Wash. Both are made in Japan and could be easily found online in USA. Don’t expect flowery perfumy smell of American products. These washes don’t smell bad at all, just a bit unusual in the beginning, but they give one an opportunity to experience freshness of our youth.
I’ve started using Japanese persimmon soap which is supposed to get rid of the nonenal odor.
Thank you! I will look into that. Never heard of it.
I was looking for this comment before I typed it myself. ❤

Leave older people alone.😢
Sounds like you’re just generally freaked.

My parents don’t either. But they do bathe daily. Maybe that helps.
my grandparents too! my grand-aunt use to wake up every morning at 5:30 to shower, then drown herself in Heat by Beyonce 😂 I miss that lady.
