My skin absolutely hates Azelaic I’ve tried rinsing it off immediately after and put 2 moisturizers on before hand even with 5 percent and it always burns and stings my skin.
Do you use Tretinoin?
@MrVariety04tazarotene but even trying azelaic with tazarotene not being on it has made my skin burn. My skin just can’t tolerate AA
Was it with multiple formulations or just one that caused this for you?
@YinYanUzumakiI’ve tried the ordinary and a few off brand ones. It still does it. Same with niacinimide. But funny enough my skin tolerates tazarotene and tretinoin
@Spenceycat123thats interesting cause while tretinoin is difficult on skin azelaic is a breeze for me and doesnt sting even a little ( i use on with tranaxemic acid in it too)
Prescription azelaic acid has been useful for me, but this particular product was not. It’s hydrating very easy to incorporate, but I don’t think the formula is optimized for effectiveness. For over the counter products, I find the Paula’s choice product to be much more effective

I’ve been curious about this anua azalic acid serum. I have it on my list for sure.
I am prescribed to 15% Azelaic and switched to OTC inky list 10% Azelaic and haven’t noticed any difference in benefits from prescription 15% to otc 10%. Still helps with redness and soothing the same. I didn’t like the formula of the prescription one that’s the only reason for me switching. So that’s just my personal experience. I may try this anua one next.
If you don’t mind me asking what specifically was wrong with the prescription? I’ve been prescribed and love Tretinoin last 4 years and going to talk to my Dr I think about adding this as I’ve been reading alot lately they compliment one another well. Thanks so much
@MrVariety04if you get it, your best option is the Azelaic Acid EMULSION it makes a heck of a difference. I use Naturium
@MrVariety04prescription azelaic acid may not be very cosmetically elegant, can be a bit gritty. Guessing that might be it

i have two lines under and on the side of my eyes from also sleeping on my side… its so frustrating cause there is no solution for it.

@sweetpotatoemama Yes, I have post inflammatory hyperpigmentation from previous acne. It hasn’t completely faded since that’s a long term process, but it’s definitely improved.

I have prescription strength at 15% out-of-pocket cost is $20 last about six months and my prescription strength tretinoin is covered by my insurance. If you have to pay out-of-pocket, it’s only about 20 bucks. Just ask your PCP to prescribe it. Hope this helps 😊 and yes you can apply both of em FYI it all depends on YOUR skin
FYI to all asking as for me I mix it with just about any of my skincare products cuz it can be mixed with just about everything it’s safe to
i love the anua azelaic acid serum!! i previously tried the AA products from The Ordinary and Naturium, but they were irritating and I couldn’t use them frequently. The one from Anua, however, I can use every day!!
