I’m an esthetician and my client that came in yesterday had injection radiation 2 weeks ago and to be safe, I politely asked that she come back in 6 months or to get a doctors approval for a facial. I had never been in this situation before but I wanted to be cautious as to not cause harm.
Very sensible.

Having experienced radiation treatment, I can attest that moisturization of the skin is critical. Even 15 years later the area that was treated requires extra moisturization to remain in good condition. Thanks for this and all the other information you provide for us!

Already on Doctor Andrea now that my mother has been diagnosed with cervical cancer and we wait for how many sessions of chemotherapy and radiation she will be on, i have armed myself for her with necessary skincare products like CeraVe hydrating cleanser and cicaplast baume b5+ and lipikar AP+M triple repair balm. I hope she likes them 😅 but i will help her of course applying them since she will exhausted by all that treatment i assume myself idk how she will be after each session. Both these videos Doctor Andrea really helped a lot in order to understand how i should be able to help my mother on her journey to heal herself 😊❤
My magnificent team at Emory Breast Cancer Center provided excellent education for the radiation process. Recommended products were available and given to the patient. Unscented Dove was the used for cleansing. During radiation to the breast, only deodorant could be used. No antiperspirants until after healing was completed. Moisturizer and topical vitamin E was a big part of treatment. The treated area was checked each day before treatment.
Obviously, this regime was successful since I had zero irritation or skin burning.
Thank you for this excellent video to help those who may not have a team like the Emory University Breast Cancer staff.

I had radiation with breast cancer. I definitely had skin issues during it. I was told to use aloe Vera gel. I do not remember the specific one. The radiation basically made the skin rough and brownish. It took a long time to go away but it was more of a nuisance than anything else. 16 years cancer free this year!

I was flat out burned during my radiation treatment on my head and neck. There are special medical grade products for these types of burns. The protocol is different even from a burn unit’s protocol. As Dr. Dray has stressed, moisturizing the skin is sooo important for the area, before, during and after radiation therapy!!!
I had radiation for breast cancer. They gave me a lotion to use. It was awful. I had huge blisters and burns. That was two years ago. All of that and the cancer came back anyway. Two weeks ago I had a double mastectomy. Hopefully I don’t have to do radiation again

Great video and I wish I had seen it 9 years ago when I was undergoing radiation treatment for breast cancer. The radiology team was very helpful and recommended Aquaphor or a calendula lotion. I did have extensive burns with brown/black skin falling off and they gave be medicinal honey sheets to place over the raw skin and it really helped with the healing process as well as pain control. I had a light tan on that breast for a year before it faded completely. Still cancer free 9 years later!
