  1. I swear I never had one in my entire 30+ yrs of life until I started going & getting ā€˜professional’ pedicures!? & I’ve heard so many ppl agree & say the same thing, so I was just wondering if you’d ever heard anything similar & what the reasoning behind that could possibly be? & honestly come to think of it, same with cracked heels…never had that as an issue either until I started having pedicures done, it’s just so weird!?

    1. Nail salons use cheap products and they make your feet dry and it is still a breeding ground for bacteria. I am proud to say that I have never had a pedi or a mani. I am in perimenopause, dry skin is a symptom of perimenopause that can start decades before the actual menopause. js

    2. When my dear mom retired, she treated herself to a pedicure (which she never had before). Got a toenail fungus. šŸ˜– Never went away until she went through chemo. 😳

  2. The only time I get them is after wearing the wrong shoes, wide roomy toe area for the win. The dental floss idea is new to me, though.

  3. Ohhhhhh.. Amma try those epsom salt and applying of antipersperant to the feet at night for my husband. Thanks

  4. Dr Dray, would you please place your texts higher or on top of screen for your YouTube shorts? There’s so many texts covering them and can’t be read (only in YT shorts though). Thank you!

    1. It is annoying, but if you open up the comments, then you can read them, assuming that the text isn’t too small.

  5. kinda insane that i’ve never heard anyone talk about this while growing up, constantly suffering from ingrown toenails and the only one who taught me that you have to cut your nails a certain way was google

  6. I didn’t know sweaty feet was bad for ingrown toenails. If I feel one starting to form, I do a gentle tug, tug to that corner of the nail, leave it alone, then repeat once a day. It usually gets better in a few days if you catch it early.

  7. My podiatrist insisted toenails should be cut that first way in the video rather than straight across. It never made sense to me!

  8. And watch the meticulous manicurist because dead skin build up is a huge problem with nails growing into the skin grooves. You can cut your toe nails how they grow as long as you’re cleaning them properly. I’m not if fan of squared toe nails on myself and I had the ingrown toe nail surgery before I found the meticulous manicurist but I have very strong c curve from side to side and arch shape as well so it’s no wonder square looks weird AF on me.

    1. @ I’ve helped my mom’s feet so much from her videos. That side wall cleaner is a little miracle tool. Her feet feel so much better. Pretty much that same issue of getting rid of the dead skin and her big toe had trauma so it needs thinned so she can add the solution. The before and after’s are satisfying but nothings more satisfying than hearing her say how they don’t hurt anymore.

  9. My husband jammed his toe so bad the podiatrist had to remove his nail. Now over 6 months later he got an ingrown toenail on that nail growing back and had to have it removed again, but permanently this time. Wish i had seen the dental floss trick before then.

  10. I am guilty of doing that! It used to hurt so bad not only toe nails but even finger nails. The pointy nails would dig into my skin and create a small hole. Now I don’t cut my nails too short.

  11. Dr. Dray can you please make a video on why the roots of the hair hurt so bad on the scalp. It’s so painful that flipping the hair or touching the head on the pillow also hurts. I experience this on some parts of my head like the crown area. The funny thing is once I shampoo the pain goes away. I used to wear buns most of the time which I have stopped since a few years. I wash my hair twice every week as I have dry, frizzy hair. Why does my hair hurt so much?

    1. @@flaneur8858 I have that problem, too, but only since I’ve gotten older. Would love to know the solution to this!

  12. Thank you!!! I thought I was the only one with sweaty feet. Had no idea there were antiperspirants for that. I’ll have to look around and get some. My feet are fine in socks (but I hate wearing socks), but sweat soooo much when I don’t wear any. I’m a barefoot kind of person, so it just sucks. Also wasn’t aware of the ingrown toenails being due to clipping like that. Also helpful šŸ˜… hopefully my feet can be nicer this summer because I’d been getting a bunch of ingrown toenails. 😭

  13. It’s exactly what I was doing & exactly what happened! I stopped, it took some time for the toenails to recover but I’ve been cutting them straight ever since. Thank you Dr. Dray!!ā¤

  14. AM I THE ONLY ONE?? I didn’t see HOW one supposed to use the dental floss on a toenail. Can you better explain, please?

  15. straight blade clippers are best to prevent ingrowns, dont use the curved ones. From experiencešŸ˜…
