  1. Happy Friday, we are so lucky to have you set us straight! Recently I purchased a couple of items from your Amazon store. I am loving BOJ Revive Eye Serum. Seems like a great dupe for my Avene Eye Cream. Thank you for your honest reviews!

    1. @d b thanks, that’s where I checked. I looked in this description box and didn’t see anything for Amazon. I guess I’ll try some other videos.

    2. @Starlitzer I clicked on her links in the “show more” when she shares products. This brought me to her Amazon selections. But you will need to go to a video with product recommendations not for a particular store.

    3. Oh ok I see now… It’s just the links to the products she uses in the videos. I already knew those were there. I thought she had a page on Amazon with recommendations, like some other people have. Thanks for the help anyway! 🙂

  2. Happy Friday Dr Dray and everyone ! Thanks again for this I tried Benzoyl peroxide . Years ago I tried Proactive and the next morning I woke with swollen eyes . I tried another brands a few yesrs ago and my face looked like it had sunburn so it is a NO GO for me . Have a wonderful weekend love to mom and Tybee xoxoxoxo

    1. Have a Lovely and Pleasant Day, and Weekend my Sweet Dear Friend!! God Bless You Always!!🙏🤗🥰🥰🥰❤

    2. Hi Mary Ann! Happy Friday!! I tried Proactive many years ago. While I didn’t experience swollen eyes, like you, made my sensitive skin feel and look raw and I broke out terribly. Wasn’t a good look. Lol! Have a wonderful weekend! 💜

    1. @Dr Dray I sent them your video on retinol where you mentioned the misunderstanding around suicide about a year ago because they were using that “claim” in their responses to comments. It turned me off right away! This brand is crazy.

  3. As a person with acne, I took the benzoyl peroxide slander personally 😤

It’s been an incredible addition to my routine and it makes me sad to think that someone who’s struggling with acne might see that fear mongering and steer clear of an ingredient that could honestly change their life.

It also angers me because it’s such a predatory marketing scheme they’re employing — inventing a problem so they can sell you the solution. Of course, they’re also the _only_ ones that have the solution — everything else is bad and dangerous and doesn’t work and yada yada.

    1. You’re absolutely right. BP is an amazing treatment, and I had great success with it until my skin developed an intolerance to it. I think that’s how this product should be marketed – by giving people who truly can’t use many of the conventional treatment a new option. Not by scaring people from trying the more researched ingredients in the first place.

    2. @Dr Dray 2:00 can you please explain in derm. terms how drugs are photosensitizing? Oral terbinafine is a drug prescribed for many months at a time. How does it work in the body to cause photosensitivity? And if you are taking it, do chemical spfs even work right? I don’t understand how photosensitivity works, or how a drug can cause impact burning.

  4. Gotta love science. Thanks for the smart review of Phyla’s claims and a systematic review of confounds impacting their ‘study’ findings. Love it so much.

  5. Get ‘em Dr. Dray! The debunking queeeeeeeen.

Those are pretty hefty claims, could they theoretically get in trouble for that, they’re essentially false claims (minus the antibiotic bit about resistance in actual antibiotics)?

  6. It’s actually a very interesting idea. If they had not chosen this way of advertising, I think I would love to try it.
I don’t trust companies that spreads misinformation to promote products.

    1. yeah, it is unfortunate that they are misleading the customer about evidence-based treatments, as their skincare technology is interesting and they could easily just focus on that aspect alone to market their products

  7. Thanks for helping us wade through the misinformation, Dr. Dray!

(On a side note, Neutrogena has a new Hydro Boost+ line (toner, niacinamide serum, caffeine eye cream). Any chance you can review or check it out on your next drugstore trip? I’m wondering if there’s much extra benefit to this stuff over regular Hydro Boost extra dry gel cream, which I adore because of you!)

  8. Great video, Dr Dray. I really appreciate you calling out misinformation. I’ve never heard of this brand but it seems like their marketing focuses on fearmongering about very well-studied treatments.

  9. Never heard of Phyla, but I tell you what, Dr Dray you surely set the record straight on their claims. I’m so grateful for you and your expertise and insight. Because of your diligence in providing the best skin care for us, my skin looks amazing. I used to use a very expensive product (MaryKay) for a very long time until I came across your channel several months ago, but since I’ve been using Neutrogena and Aveeno, Timeless Co Q10, the snail mucin I am so pleased with the results! Thank you for being you♥️🤗

  10. As always Dr Dray is the voice of knowledge and reason. Thank you for debunking this misinformation. I hate to think someone would avoid treatment because of that ignorant person. I personally have suffered with mild to moderate acne as a teen and starting in my 30’s, rosacea. I have subscribed to your channel for several years now and credit YOU with “curing” my rosacea. For me minimizing inflammation is key to controlling my rosacea. Topical niacinamide, sunscreen, and high potency oral turmeric are key along with good non irritating skin care. I would love to use tretinoin for the anti-aging benefits but it is just too irritating for my skin.

  11. i tried phyla for about 4 months. previously i was using bp, niacinamide, azelaic acid, and tretinoin but still having occasional breakouts and hoped the bacteriophage would be helpful for reducing those. i had a bad purge for the first 3ish weeks with worse acne than i’d ever had. after that things seemed to be calming down for the next month, but i had really bad hyperpigmentation and couldn’t use any products to address it since they say the bacteriophage can be killed by a lot of common skincare ingredients. about 2.5 mos in i had a second round of even worse acne than the first purge and again a lot of PIH. eventually i decided to switch back to my former routine and am now on the slow road to tapering back up on retinol. i definitely regret being swayed by phyla’s marketing.

    1. Uh, the worst part of it is that these companies literally pray on desperate people… So sorry you went through such ordeal. I almost got it to myself too, but since not much info except heavy marketing, I backed off.

  12. The more I watch you the more endearing your ‘well hey guys’ intro becomes … you are the best Dr.Dray, thank you for all your trustworthy info! We are lucky to have you.

  13. My adult daughter had cystic acne and we went down the internet rabbit hole where sites claim to cure acne. It was becoming disfiguring and she went on Accutane. It completely cured her acne and now she’s on a prescription Vitamin A. She’s so much happier with her skin and cystic acne really made her sad. Thank you for challenging this companies claims

    1. I’ve been on accutane myself! I stopped breaking out for a good five years though and my liver enzymes I don’t want to get back on it as I’m 28 now

  14. Once again, Dr. Dray pulls out the truth and exposes the fear mongering misinformation marketing. Brava, Brava!

  15. I’ve never heard of this brand but am grateful to you for bringing to light misinformation not only by this brand but many others as well. You are an endless source of knowledge that we all have the privilege to benefit from. Happy Friday, Dr Dray!! I hope you, your sweet momma and little Tybee have a wonderful weekend. 💕

    1. Hi Mary!! Happy Friday Evening!! Hope You had a Wonderful Day!! I Did Fix The Soup Creamy Potatoe Soup!! Turned Out Pretty Good!! I Can Eat Soup Anytime!! It Sounds Like Your in For Some Super Chilly Weather, I Hope You Have a Warm and Cozy Evening!! Let’s Sip Our Tea, and Enjoy Our Precious Kitties!! Sweet Dreams, and God Bless You Always my Sweet Friend!!🙏☕️🫖☕️🐈🐈💕🙏

  16. You inspire me so much, Dr. Dray! I have been feeling quite anxious about the incoming semester, but for some reason, this video made me look forward to all my biology classes. I wanna become like you someday <3

  17. I came across this brand a couple years ago when my acne was cystic and before I saw a dermatologist. I was honestly really interested and persuaded by their “study,” but in the end decided not to take the plunge because a. i had never heard about their technology before and it seemed too good to be true and b. it was out of my price range. I’m glad I didn’t end up using their products, because eventually I did see a dermatologist and it turns out my acne is hormonal, which cleared up after she prescribed me my spironalactone. With the knowledge about skin that I know now (thanks to this channel) I’m also annoyed by all the fear mongering and misinformation spread by this company. It’s not surprising and yet I’m still disappointed to see it.
