  1. I’ve been using tanning beds since I was 14. Currently 19 and never had issues with my skin. No skins care routine either yet perfect skin…….what does that tell u about beauty products 🤷
Edit: Old people are salty 💀

    1. This is extremely dangerous to say. You’re only 19, wait until you’re older. You’ll regret it. You’re also using anecdotal evidence – take care of your skin now before it’s too late. 14 is extremely young to be using tanning beds anyway.

    2. I worked in my aunts tanning salon in high school. I’m 57 and have had almost a dozen skin cancers removed. I can tell you YOU WILL REGRET IT. Come talk to me in 10 years. Oh, and my first skin cancer showed up at 21. Good luck to you.

    3. Could be genes, but that won’t keep you from anything in the future, you’re still 19, better start soon

  2. I feel this way INLY when I can’t go to work out on any given day lol I’m addictive d to feeling healthy and feeling great for myself

Tanning is do bad for anyone but they still do it 😮

  3. I have been addicted to tanning since I was 16 yr. It’s that brain chemistry that involves serotonin that gives me a relaxed, all is good feeling. Tanning beds don’t do that for me, only real sun exposure. So, I know it isn’t healthy for my skin, I’ve had leisons removed, but I’m addicted!

    1. there are lamps that give you the light without the damage! Look into SAD (seasonal affective disorder) light therapy lamps

  4. Oooh wow, I never realized it’s actually an addiction for many people. Now that makes me wonder what the recourse is to wean someone off of it even when they get multiple skin cancer spots.

    1. Try a dose of EFUDEX (or two) and you learn to not allow your skin to be unprotective – this is a psych behavioral issue, not a physiological addiction. Vanity especially.

  5. I was wondering this a lot like the obsession was a bit weird.. now it makes sense. But still how is this addictive?

    1. dopamine hits, vanity, psych mood changes —-but addictive? It’s more a behavioral habit. If addictive, the body would go through physiological changes like delerium tremens when withdrawn.

  6. I’m not challenging that UV is bad, I know skin cancer survivors (and knew one victim), I myself wear sunscreen, don’t tan and avoid direct sun exposure. Having said that, why does our body secret happy hormones due to UV??? They are legitimately bad for us, why does our body make us want them?

    1. Probably cause some sun exposure is good and gives us vitamin D. Water is good for you but water toxicity exists. Balance.

    2. I’ve ALWAYS wanted to know this cause we need vitamin d and the sun is something that can even help with depression

  7. I have LP and my physician made an appointment for RLT at my local tanning salon. I naturally have melanin in my skin. The first time I went, I was already in their system, was told me that I had already had a spray tan and been in a tanning bed numerous times. That’s how I found out there this a non-melaninated, very tanned lady who has the same name as me in the same city.
