Mine too. I’m always getting made fun of for covering up, wearing spf gloves while driving, even reapplying spf. I know my skin will thank me in the long run.
@@valerieceleste6264I didn’t know there were SPF gloves. That’s an excellent idea. I get brown spots on my hands so fast just watering flowers on my deck. Thanks for posting.
Sorry for this little moppet. Perhaps by posting she can influence her age group not to tan. The peer pressure is hard to ignore. Prayers for her health.
There has been a uproar on the screening of 20 Australian sunscreens which only 4 passed! Lab Muffin (Michelle) has been all over the news trying to explain this outcome!!
I am 42 and spent my childhood outdoors without spf and my teens/20’s in tanning beds. I have had 3 skin cancers removed in the past few years, one on my forehead via MOHs. I’ve reframed the scar as my opportunity to teach younger girls that tanning is not worth it.
I think a little time in the sun is healthy, but sunscreen is important. With all the self tanner we have out there, just use that. Once you learn the technique to apply it evenly and find the right one, it looks like a deep natural tan.
I’m a teacher in the Caribbean. I live in a coastal area and the sun here is no joke, yet when I reapply sunscreen (which I do religiously cause again, the sun here is no joke) I get such judgmental looks that you would think I’m having tequila shots at work. The lack of comprehension regarding sun damage and possible risks go beyond themselves. Is crazy.
@@TwisterTornadoPeople around me think I’m exaggerating, that there’s no way I need that much sunscreen, mind you I have sun spots to prove the sun damage of years of only applying sunscreen once in the morning and then spending the day at the beach in the water until sunset.
Big respect to this woman for sharing her journey and being so honest about the mistakes she made in her past. Things won’t change if brave people like her don’t speak up ❤
How stupid you are there in the US. Stop praising people who have revealed and shared their stories of stupidity. There has been a growing awareness of the disasters of skin cancer for 4 decades!! And yet this young woman insisted on tanning without sunscreen. What is there to compliment her on? It’s sad, but she didn’t teach us anything that commercials and schools didn’t already teach us. Too bad she didn’t bother to listen too.
I wear long sleeve, glasses, hat, and put sun screen on face and neck. Now I’m just realizing I never put it on my legs or feet. Hopefully the damage hasn’t already been done.
One more thought, embrace the pale! Go with it, like my grandmother did. She said she and her mother went about with parasols. Coco Chanel started the tanning craze. But now we know better.
Once someone in a group said “you’re so white” disparagingly. I said “I use sunscreen.” His reply “I don’t.” I mean, that was obvious by the dry leather look of his skin 😂.
I’m 34 yo and I never intentionally tanned. Yes I do go to the beach once in a milion years but I hate laying and doing nothing. I also hate heat on my skin so no thank you. P.S. I removed 5 moles already. Some due to going strange while pregnant (3) and some due to being in locations directly hit by the sun (2). I even had one appear on the sole of my foot while being 7 weeks pregnant. That went under knife quickly. All benign and luckily I have very few moles, but even if I’ve never tanned, I wear spf and I don’t expose myself to the sun for the purpose of tanning.
But my “friends” rather shame me for wearing a large hat and upf cardigan while going out for a walk

So frustrating
Laugh all the way to the bank, bcuz you’ll save money and look younger while they’ll look older and pay for procedures in the future.
Forget what they think! Do you 👍

Thank you for reminding people of the side effects of tanning 🙏
You need to Google Clare Oliver. She was a 26 year old Australian who died of skin cancer

It is safer, but still glorifying tannng.

It’s so tied up in history, I can see why some people might mistakenly think that it is out of racialized vanity.
But that is so unfair for dark-haired people who more easily get moles. I think that I am at more risk for cancer, than some blondes.

Most young people still think the consequences of tanning are in the very long term
I’m 37 and all people in my entourage who minimized sun tanning 2 decades ago are now paying the price (wrinkle, dark spots,..)😅

Ive noticed gen Z is bringing back the tanning bed trend. So sad. If I could go back in time I would NEVER tan…
I’ve had skin cancer removed from my shin. It’s been years and the surgical spot is still there… and it’s 3 x the size of the cancer
