As someone with dermatillomania and as a result pretty frequent skin infections I’m wondering if topical antibiotics can lead to an antibiotic resistance internally meaning to oral antibiotics.

I’ve always wondered why people don’t put antibiotic creams on their face (such as neosporin) to treat acne.
Because not all acne comes from bacterial infections, using antibiotics carelessly is dangerous, you could select resistant bacteria, damage your skin barrier, ect
@Sweet T My Dr had told me to use Bacitracin antibiotic on my acne but no neosporin. Bacitracin is one of the antibiotics in neosporin though.

Oh please if u are tempted to use an OTC antibiotic ointment or cream, do not use Neosporin (triple antibiotic). Neomycin (the third ingredient in triple antibiotic) is known to cause scarring. Clearly not always, but why risk it, especially on ur face. Bacitracin does not have Neomycin in it, and neither does Polysporin (double antibiotic).
So original is without makeup, then after pics have enough makeup to cover all the discoloration and spots….it’s magic
Being honest I’m not so sure. Maybe it’s just me but I didn’t think her skin was that bad in the first place. She may not have even been left with discoloration
EDIT: Just going off the fact that not everyone scars, and as someone who has gotten big, really inflamed pimples and smaller ones like hers, my smaller ones never really left me with any discoloration. (My bigger ones definitely did though)
A couple of years ago I started washing my face twice at night with cetaphil. I would wash my face, rinse all the cetaphil off then wash it again with more cetaphil then pat dry. I feel it’s better for my skin as cetaphil is gentle and I’m noticing less break outs or acne.
I just gave up double cleansing with oil or a balm. I just use my cleanser twice and I have noticed a HUGE difference. ❤

Thank you for mentioning antimicrobial resistance!!! Could you do a longer form video on antimicrobial resistance and skin care/hygiene/sanitation?
Mupirocin is the only thing that works when I get a giant boil like zit it on my shoulder or back or jawline. No acne specific med works on them. I’ve confirmed with a dermatologist that it is in fact acne lesions that I am treating, too.
Mupirocin is a GOD send for a spot beginning to form from HS. ❤
Is ketoconazole shampoo and the cream better for seb derm or the ciclopirox/ciclopirex (sp)? Gel better?
It’s an individual thing i think i used ketoconazole it improved a little the other one it doesn’t exist in my country do never tried it
