  2. Hey i don’t think the product that you showed first is a bar soap. I believe its a solid serum.

    1. We are remodeling a bathroom so three of us (daughter, hubby & I) are sharing one shower. I’ve made sure that we have separate areas for our different products and definitely don’t share soap. It’s super weird of me~ I know 😂

    2. ​@@liasmith696 damn, my family (we are 5 people) uses 1 bar soap for all of us. Is there a noticeable difference do you do not share bar soap?

    3. ​@@autumnella5559WHOA! What?! Why doesn’t everyone have their own soap? It’s extremely cost effective. That’s incredibly unsanitary. Blood related or not.

    4. ​@@delasoulish I don’t think it is unsanitary. I’ve shared bar soaps and it’s not like you rub it on your body other than your hands. Also, you eventually rinse the bar before and after use anyway… 🤷🏻

  3. Soap also destroys the cell wall of the bacteria, doesn’t it? (Which would kill the bacteria). That’s what I learned in microbiology anyway.

    1. Yes it does! I love her, but she wasn’t correct in that soaps function for bacteria is to lift it from the skin. Soap literally shreds it into tiny pieces from the forces of the bonds. My professor said the reason bacteria don’t become resistant to soap the way they do antibiotics is because it would be like a person becoming ‘resistant’ to grenades. It doesn’t happen.

      Is that true for all kinds of ‘non liquid cleansers’ or just real soap? You know, the old-fashioned lye kind? Hope you know what I mean. I’ve always wondered, if one needs to be more careful with very mild, modern ‘bar cleansers’, that aren’t actually soap.

      Actually, there are bacteria with incredibly thick cell walls that not even bar soap cN damage. So your analogy is silly

  4. I had bar soap in my apartment in the shower and my roommate thought it was the nastiest thing. I never understood why…its soap literally meant to kill germs and stuff LOL

  6. I make soap and detergents from scratch. Soap’s pH is too high to let bacteria grow on it. Detergents are normally formulated with a lower skin-friendly pH, which isn’t ideal for bacteria but certainly won’t prevent growth altogether, so we use preservatives.

  8. Bacteria on bar soap is something I have never thought of. I lather up the soap with water and my hands before applying it to my skin anyway.
