  1. Happy Monday, dear Dr. Dray! Thank you for all you share and gift us with each and every day! I wanted to add that I enjoy the weekday videos as well as the weekend vlogs of your adventures! 💕

  2. To answer a question from yesterday’s blog: yes to suffering from upper lip melasma! I’ve had it since pregnancy. Would using azelaic acid (10% like the Ordinary one) before tretinoin at night be a good plan for dealing with this?

    1. Same here! Mine is from persistent eczema itching. I’m also not good with sunscreen and am a darker skin color 😢

  3. Happy Monday, Doc! I’m ready to dig into this video, but I did want to ask if you plan on making a video about Moderna’s experimental vaccine against melanoma recurrence. I’m sure you’ve probably already started researching. 😉

  4. Foliculitis is such a pain. I used to get it frequently on shaving sites and areas that rub together. Benzoyl Peroxide was my skin savior. It’s one of my favorite ingredients to get rid of ickys on my skin. 😊

  5. Lately I’ve been getting some of those pimples on my back so the video came just at right time 😂 I swear you can read my mind dr dray! Hahaha

    1. @Dr Dray I heard if you’ve ever had a skin staph infection that you shouldn’t use tampons moving forward in life, because once you’ve had staph, the bacteria that causes TSS is already on your skin and increases your TSS risk. Is this true?

  6. Thank you Dr. Dray! If someone has many tiny pimples on the undersides of their breasts, and the pimples are always there in the exact same spots… what is that?

  7. Folliculitis is a common skin condition that happens when hair follicles become inflamed. It’s often caused by an infection with bacteria. At first it may look like small pimples around the tiny pockets from where each hair grows. Staying consistent with these tips help because they can be be incorporated into the daily routine like with the towels and linens (l always bleach them it’s my thing 😅). Thanks Miss Andrea for the tips and also educating about such serious matter❤😊.

  8. I still get some breakouts on my body from sweat and/or clothing, mainly in parts like shoulders, chest, back. I realized I get the hair follicle ones on my thighs, because they seem to bleed if broken and take forever to heal. I haven’t shaved my legs in ages though, and I always put on clean clothes after a shower. I’d love more info on it because for awhile I was minimizing hot water, using a SA body wash, and lotion-ing up while damp, and it helped but seemed to give me a few new pimples that night or the next day? Little ones that pop. Seems to get better if I dont do anything, shower normal and don’t use lotion all over. They sometimes pinch but I don’t want pink marks.

    1. Also trying to change my clothes if I got sweaty has helped. I used to wash up my shoulders/pits nightly in the sink but for awhile I was able to stop doing that. And I haven’t tried Benzoyl yet, but nervous about it staining lol.

    2. I feel the sane. Indeel like my skin dies better if I shower less, but also if I don’t lotion right out of the shower. I feel like the water is collecting in the skin folds, and the lotion is not letting it evaporate properly. Also my skin ph seems effected after showering too

    3. @remainingembers in my experience, benzoyl peroxide cleansers don’t stain fabrics. The topical leave on does stain

  9. My friend was having problems with folliculitis under her arms about 4 years ago but not since thankfully. My daughter has a habit of leaving her razors in the shower but I take them out 😊 Thanks for mentioning staph, my teen son that does martial arts just got over a breakout on his torso and legs. Great tips and video, Happy Monday 🌞🌷

    1. Oh interesting. I wonder if part of a first response would be go 14 days without shaving underarms and use a depilatory cream hair remover instead. I never thought about using razors in public gyms being an opportunity for staph too. When I was in college I always took my toiletries out of the communal shower. Things kept dry, and it keeps your shower/bathroom from getting pink mold. My understanding is that pink mold is everywhere in the air, but doesn’t grow everywhere; only where it’s wet and stays wet.

    2. @08 Ex47 I think I remember asking my friend about the condition of the razors that she was using, and what type, better razors as opposed to dollar store disasters. She has naturally curly hair too so maybe part of it was her underarm hair might grow in a spiral fashion that would lead to clogged pores. Smart of you to remove toiletries from a communal shower, def breeding grounds for all sorts of nasties. Interesting about pink mold. Thanks for sharing.🙂

  10. Though my skin rarely reacts to anything, I found the benzoyl peroxide as a bodywash routine to leave me with crazy itching on those areas LOL. What do you think about chlorhexidine gluconate (Hibiclens)? It doesn’t make my sensitive areas itch and it’s a known in the camping/hiking communities (Burning Man too) to use before being in any sitch where you can’t shower every day.

    1. I want to try hibiclens for this reason too. I use it on my underarms and I’ve noticed that my upper arms are itchy

  11. panoxyl easily washes off while in the shower. i suggest wetting the area instead, lathering panoxyl there, and letting it sit for a few minutes with the water off. THEN turn the shower on to finish cleaning yourself

  12. Thank you for bringing light to Hypochlorous Spray. An entire video on underbreast issues for International Women’s Day next year (or sooner)

  13. Hi Dr Dray hope you are well. I was just wondering if you could review and try out some of the skincare products from Deviant Skincare? :) They have really nice skincare products for acne prone skin and I think your opinion would be great to hear! :)

  14. This one came at a good time – I’ve been treating my KP with Urea 20% this past week and I’ve got loads of these hair follicle pimples from it. Just finished a term of accutane so it’s so annoying

  15. Many years ago, I had this in my underarm area. Boy was it painful! It never occurred to me that my razor could possibly have contributed to the condition. I did use warm compresses and that helped. Thanks for the interesting information. Happy Monday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a beautiful evening. 💟

  16. Can you do a video on how to deal with an allergic reaction on the scalp? I think I developed an allergy to something in my shampoo and my scalp got covered in scaly plaques and probably folliculitis. It’s taken 2 weeks of using head and shoulders to mostly heal my scalp.

  17. I would love to hear you talk about atopic dermatitis. I have a spot that recurs if I get certain lotions near it, Amylactin causes it, as do lotions containing retinol.

  18. There are many new Retinol products in the Korean skincare market these days. It seems like OTC Retinol only recently became an ingredient in Korean brands. 2 years back I could only find Paula’s Choice but now Korean brands such as CosRX, Innisfree, Mamonde, Some by Mi, Frankly, Simplica, Doctors etc have their own Retinol products. Can you please review these products.

  19. Thank God for this. I’ve been suffering with scalp folliculitis for years. Been on antibiotics, antifungals, tried hibeclens, benzoyl peroxide, Clindamycin, clobetasol propionate, injections by dermatologist, and still can’t get rid of it. The only thing that worked was oral steroids that i took for a hand injury. Clindamycin too, but insurance only covers so much and i need to use it every day. I clean my sheets and pillows (even got an antimicrobial pillow, which I’m sure was a waste of money). Eventually it gets so bad i just shave my head (clippers with a guard), which gives me a few weeks of relief until my hair grows to about 2 inches. Basically my life revolves around this nightmare condition. I’m going to try some of your tips–I’ve been reusing towels. You’ve definitely confirmed my suspicions of why this keeps happening to me (excessive heat/moisture). Fingers crossed I can finally get this under control–i was convinced that there had to be some lifestyle change i could do, but all of my doctors told me otherwise.

  20. Wow, I had a recent breakout on my thighs, thinking it was acne (because I’m prone to it all over). This was after I shaved with a razor (new, but it was kept by the shower). I haven’t used a razor for years. This video made me realise it wasn’t a breakout at all but folliculitis. It already cleared up, but it left some dark spots :/ I’m just going to continue not to use razors, lol
