Happy Tuesday! Always appreciate your advise on dealing with aging skin. Recently I ran into a friend from high school and his wife wanted to know how he knew me. She could not believe that we were the same age. She thought I was in my 40s vs turning 60. I get that I a lot thanks to these videos! Thank you for all your good advice!!
Greetings Theresa Berg hope u r well n Happy Tuesday😀👍💜….
@Whitney Brown Happy Tuesday, I hope that you are having a great day!
😊 happy Thursday
@Dr Dray Thank you!
Can please share your skin care routine for am and pm
Skin thinning is very sad for elderly people, they get hurt so easily. Thank you for the info Dr Dray.
Yes, can cause many issues
I just started using Amlactin a couple weeks ago for my arms with KP! It’s so good! My skin is feeling so smooth now. 🥰 I’m gonna start using it on other rough dry areas. I was so hesitant to try amlactin for a long time but I’m glad I took a chance on it. I just wish it were less expensive.
How comparable is the Eucerin Advanced Repair Lotion to Amlactin? I mean I’m using the Eucerin and it’s very moisturizing without the greasy feel and noticed how my skin’s texture and luminosity improved over time and it’s inexpensive! Before I switched to Eucerin as my body moisturizer, I was actually contemplating on which one should I go for, Amlactin, Cerave or Eucerin but eventually opt for Eucerin since it’s a lot more affordable.
They now have it at Marshall’s and T.J.Maxx for 9.99
how many times a day do you apply?
@Robert Louise Baker-HydeI like Amlactin better. Less greasy feeling to me. If you have Costco or know someone that does I say try it once and see which you prefer. But if you love that Eucerin I don’t think you NEED to change. Probably similar results.
@akajulz Thank you for sharing this!
I swear every time a random skincare question pops up in my head, you make a new video that answers that very question. Great video and informative 👌🏼 Thank you
Thanks for watching
Legitimately same lol it’s awesome!
I been using Amlactin cream for years. At one time it was only prescription use. It’s a wonderful hand cream.
I wanted to tell you since you are a dermatologist. My 26 year old sister had a very painful rash the past two years and she kept going in and they kept telling her it was eczema till finally a doc listented and they did testing turns out its a very rare form of skin cancer. No cure but he did tell my sister hes currently treating a patient rn for the same type of cancer and hes been symptom free for 9 years. But she will have to do light threapy and lotion for the rest of her life. Im very close to my siblings so it kills me inside i cant imagine how she feels. Shes already had one light treatment and it burns her skin so he told her wear sun block. She had two kids one 2 and the other almost one. And i cant help but think of them losing their mom. Im keeping high spirits for her i told her im always here for her. So for anyone who gets any kind of weird rash thats painful pls go in you never know. Anyway thanks for the videos drdray
I’m sorry to hear that. Wishing all the best for your sister🙏
Prayers for you all.🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
Good for your sister for being persistent! I wish her well.
I pray for the healing of your sister. Stay strong.
Thanks everyone it means a lot 💙💙💙
Another important and explanatory video about the great importance of our largest organ, which is no other than the skin itself 😊❤. Just like Doctor Andrea said imagine it as shield (or a barrier which in fact is 😊) against external factors (for instance harmful bacteria or tiny objects creating greater damages). So taking the shield metaphor in mind what also comes with it but of course the maintenance of the shield (aka skin ❤). Maintenance varies but in general terms is the same for everyone and that is a healthy lifestyle that includes balance diet (of course we can eat whatever we like and crave once in a while because ok life isn’t easy so some sweets and other drooling delights make our little world 😅❤) and exercise (normal stuff ok we aren’t athletes we aren’t at least me to be dave bautista 😅). As for the supplements doctors have a better spectrum about that because they examine and run some tests as regards the individual’s deficiencies and come with the best treatment for them either be taking a supplement or something morw exquisite. Of course cosmetology offers a helping hand with her creams that are enriched with beneficial ingredients reinforcing the skin barrier making more robust. There are also procedures given by dermatologists that speed the healing of the skin from high cortisol usage which have as a result better skin functionality. Of course there are other options as well but are still in premature levels or patience is required and God forbids use sunscreen (and retinols) every day stay consistent ok my dearies stay well and safe ❤ 😇💟🙏✌😄👍😎😍.
I unfortunately was a multiple offender in respect to smoking, sun worshipping, not wearing sunscreen (ever)..I have only recently really been hyper diligent trying to reverse my now prominent sun damage 😫🫣.. at 47 yrs old!
I will say that I am blessed with good genes when it comes to skin resiliency, and have seen a vast improvement particularly in my crepey skin on my hands.. which I never even thought to incorporate into my facial skincare routine.. along with my neck and chest.
Thank you for pointing out the white spots! I couldn’t figure out why I suddenly had “scars”.. yeah, sun scars! But with your advice, I’ve really seen some real improvement! I no longer focus just on my face; every day I take whatever leftovers I have from my facial care and apply it to the tops of my hands especially. It’s working!
Dr Dray, my skin thanks you 🎉❤!!
Both my parents have really thin skin and it worries me when I see the bruising and tears. Thank you for this information.
As an RN on a neuro/ortho unit, I care for elderly patients, many of whom develop decubitus ulcers while hospitalized. I’ll be sure to pass on your advice. Thanks.
Thank you for all that you do
I have been working from home since the past 3yrs, thanks to Covid but I actually love to socialize many days and have some light conversations. I come here every morning to listen to your intellectual talk, Dr Dray, and check out the comments of other friends from around the world and I feel so much better. Thank you one more time for taking the time to share your knowledge to the world for free ❤
I agree, I love the comments section. It’s such a great community that supports the doctor!
This community is amazing! And what jump out to me from your comment is, that because of time zones, watching Dr Dray is an afternoon routine, when i come from work! So funny to me. Happy Tuesday!
thanks for watching
So true! This is the only channel I read the comments on and actually comment. Such a great community!
My dermatologist told me to use amlactin for my dry skin. I’m also type 2, so the dry skin is worse. Good stuff.
This came at the perfect time. I just hit my elbow on the side mirror of my car and knocked a church out of my elbow which bled profusely. I am now 81 so I do have thinning skin and you are the first I have heard talking about this and how to help it not be a problem. I do have a lot of skin damage from the sun . I was not a sun bather but when I was in the sun for very long I always got a burn and the lotion we had then really didn’t protect the skin. I use sunscreen each and everyday! Thanks 😊
This is so timely as I was researching this topic yesterday! A derm had me on topical steroids for a year, new derm is tapering me off but my skin is so thin and fragile. Thanks for uploading this!
As a girl I had to have cortisone shots for my severe environmental allergies. I developed a sinkhole in my derriere from the shots, which ceased at age 10. Between that and the port wine stain on my chest, the kids were merciless. The wine stain never changed, but the hole was still there at age 40. At 50 it *finally* disappeared without me doing anything.
Thanks for the video. At 65, my veins in my hands are starting to poke through and my skin on my hands & forearms are starting to look like there’s a network of dry skin just below the surface. So far, CeraVe diabetic dry skin is keeping it at bay, but I assume 1 day it will fail to work.
You know, it really isn’t hard to treat your hands and forearms just like your face, neck and chest. I’ve been doing it for years (it’s also a great way to try new products). The more damage you have, likely the greater your improvement will be.
My 90 mom was exposed to Candida Auris while hospitalized last month. (It’s a treatment resistant fungus tearing through health care facilities. ) She has thin skin. We’re hoping she doesn’t have this. Thanks Dr Dray for this most important video!! ❤️❤️
I’m praying she doesn’t have that. So scary I can imagine. Sending positive thoughts and prayers her way 🙏❤️
Thank you so much. My family and I appreciate it. ❤️
Dr. Dray is spot on with Amlactin lotion. My dermatologist that I have been seeing for over 20 years told me about this product on my first visit with him and I’ve used it consistently since. It works! I’m 62 and now when I go to my dermatologist for a yearly mole check, he tells me that he can’t believe how healthy and beautiful the skin is on my body. The only thing that I will say in areas where your skin touches skin (like your breasts without a bra) in the summer I use Neutrogena Hydro Boost (Dr Dray recommendation) in that area because it gets a little sensitive, but the remainder of my body gets drenched in Amlactin. Thank you Dr. Dray for all you do for us! ❤
Do you apply on your face also?
@KiMSW I do. I love it👍
Thank you for addressing this problem. I had requested that this topic be discussed in your Q&A. I bruise and tear so easily. My arms are often covered with Vaseline and bandaids. I started using AmLactin and was glad to see it mentioned here. I have discussed the problem with my dermatologist, and he said moisturize and use sunscreen. I will ask him about more options at my next exam. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing this! As a 65 yo woman, I have thinning of the skin on my hands. I just want to say that I respect your opinion and I know you do a lot of research and I really appreciate that. 💯❣️
