  1. It’s so nice to finally see a woman of color describe the treatment. You are clearly very knowledgeable and we are thankful for your information!

    1. @diabloazula I like Dr. Vanita too but she did not specialize in Dermatology in medical school and is not a dermatologist. She is just a regular MD….not sure if she specialized in anything or not. I think may to be a General Practitioner. After med school she become a chemical formulator of skin products. Dr. Alexis on the other hand was a chemical formulator first, and then went to medical school specifically for Dermatology. So, from a medical perspective and dermatological standpoint, I think I give Dr. Alexis one or maybe even two up on Dr. Vanita. But, I do appreciate Dr. Vanita as well for sure. And I absolutely enjoyed the video they did together.

  2. This is the most wholesome video I’ve watched in a while. Love to all working moms during this pandemic. Thank you for this video, Dr. Stephens!

  3. Happy to finally see a dermatologist of color doing a scientific no frills youtube channel! Thank you for the detailed explanations and honest opinions!

  4. Thanks for the video. I’ve used various products over the years that supposedly deal with the issue of hyperpigmentation, but resulted in major disappointments. Your explanation of hyperpigmentation presents a more complex issue than topical creams are capable of addressing. Qualified dermatologists of color are non-existent where I live and accessing one would require much travel. Thanks again!

  5. I really enjoy how in depth you were about this entire process. N I have suffered with acne scarring and dark marks since middle school and have tried everything possible. I am 23 years old now, so for some time now I have just given up on my skin. I am definitely going to give some of these products a try.

  6. This was SO helpful. I have been feeling super untrusting towards my current moisturizer and sunscreen and wanted to figure out a better routine for evening out my skin tone. There’s so much misinformation out there but I feel like I can trust you! First step is throwing out my Cerave moisturizing Cream because it has saturated fat as the 4th ingredient (MCT oil/coconut oil/caprylic,capric triglyceride) ! Everytime I put it on I felt like it made my skin tone look MORE uneven. I’m glad to know it wasn’t in my head.

  7. Love all the information! Please do one on hyperpigmentation in the underarms, how to lighten, hair removal and what deodorant to use. I’m sure a lot of ladies would appreciate it!

  8. I love Dr. Stephens’ videos, but I hope that the editing and sound can keep improving. It’s somewhat distracting, but I really value all of the amazing information that she is sharing with us, for FREE! THANK YOU DR. STEPHENS.

    1. @rehoboth favours It’s about the information that she bestows upon the Public for free. Not about her microphone quality. The only thing that could be holding her back is your (un)thoughtful criticism about something that those who watched the video actually appreciate. 😊

    2. @rehoboth favours I agree and it’s mad to me that a constructive comment got someone so defensive and throwing around terms like “narcissistic” out of context. What’s wrong with informing her that her sound quality is poor? Also yes this video is free content for us but many content creators produce videos to help build their brand and improve their business, thus quality content is important to get views.

    3. Constructive criticism she didn’t ask for. I’m with the poster above who’s of the cut that is actual grateful FREE information was shared, with her own animations and teaching style instead bringing up things that are not that much of an issue, and especially without offering editing help with the critique. I’m sorry I can’t stand ppl who only address presentations but not the information presented. Drives me nuts.

    4. how critical some of these comments. Excellent videos and NOTHING is wrong with the doctor’s enunciation. Did you learn something? That’s more than good,

  9. I washed this video again and it is really a master class, so many years suffering from hyperpigmentation and melasma and I have never learned as much as I have learned with this video. Thank you Dr. 🙏

  10. This is the most DETAILED and thorough description of hyperpigmentation that I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen many many because I’ve suffered from acne for over 35 years. From cystic acne to regular pimples to dermatitis acne. Thank you! I found myself saying thank you all through the video. But thank you again. New subscriber here! 😁

  11. Please put the order in which we need to use these items in a list starting from cleanser, treatments, retinol, etc. It’s hard to keep up with the right products we need to use in the correct order.

  12. Hi Dr Stephens. I hope you are doing well. At the beginning of this video, you mentioned that 2 products , although pricey, can help us achieve the same result as using several of the products you mentioned. What are those 2 products? Also, could you please do a video about a good skincare routine for women with hyperpigmentation, basically, an illustration on how to use the products you mentioned. Thank you!

  13. It would be great to have a video of your skincare routine using the most affordable products that you spoke about , so we can visually understand how to treat hyperpigmentation.

  14. She breaks it down scientifically and then tells you exactly what to use to fix it… am I dreaming? 😍😂

  15. I’m so grateful I discovered your channel. Wow, my mind is blown! I had no idea that moisturizer can affect hyperpigmentation. Turns out I’m using one full of saturated fatty acids, and I have melasma! Please do a video on the treatment of melasma. You’re amazing!

  16. Dr. Alexis I cant thank you enough for this! I’ve studied the hyperpigmentation playlist, created my own routine and I feel so much more empowered and in control after watching this and the other videos on this subject. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the YouTube Community!

  17. I love it when educated people break knowledge down to even where a child could understand. You did a wonderful job explaining this!

  18. This video was so comprehensive. As a science geek, I loved the flowcharts and analogy to people in the car. I understand people with deeper skin color have a bigger issue with hyperpigmentation. Can those of us developing sunspots as we age follow the same advice in the video, or is there a different regimen to follow? I assume retinoids are part of the answer.
