I have mainly hand, mouth, eye (and scattered areas) eczema from atopic dermatitis. Why my skin burns after I put on petroleum jelly? It literally suffocates and I see all dermatologists recommend it…
You might be allergic. I am and it burns.
If you’re allergic to petroleum jelly, is there an occlusive moisturizer that you tolerate well like Cetaphil? You can try using that with the cotton gloves at night.
I have eczema on my right thumb that breaks out when im stressed. Past couple weeks ive been slathering Aquaphor on my thumb and vasoline on the rest of my hand, then putting a glove on i got from work (hospital) & just wear it when im at home, awake or asleep. My thumb is starting to look better, but are cotton gloves better? And if so, why?

But since forgiving them & praying for them, even tho they haven’t acknowledged or apologized (along with the great skincare hygiene protocols Doc advises), the rashes are dissipating & healing! 🙏🙌

Prequel just released a new silicone scar balm stick product. I wonder if that could be helpful in the case of a small area of eczema as a barrier?
The Vaseline, covered by cotton gloves, and sleeping with them is the best thing I’ve ever done for my hands. No more cracked cuticles around my fingers. It gets rid of even little cuts that you might have on your hand grease those up put those gloves on they’ll heal up quickly.
Happens to me too, I also have atopic eczema.
I use a cream with a very high amount of glycerin instead. It is also lightly occlusive but does sink in eventually. It triggers my eczema, when it is sealed in like it would be with vaseline.
But since I’m a nurse, I need something to prevent my hands from cracking and bleeding.😅
I have disidrotic eczema quite extreme so I live on cotton gloves all day and I change them frequently

I’m not in healthcare but i am a nail tech… so I understand all you’ve said. But my hands are bad I think from wearing gloves staring to think I’m allergic I even wear non latex. Idk what else to do HELP
You could look into allergies to the polymers in nail products

I wear vinyl gloves when cleaning the house to avoid contact with chemicals and causing flair ups. I make sure my hands are dry before putting on the gloves but when I take the gloves off, my hands are drenched in sweat. Should I be changing gloves and drying my hands after a certain period of time?
