It does smell foul. Makes me gag.

In all seriousness, probably tell him to wear socks/pool slides indoors. Disinfect the shower/tub before entering, if you two use the same bathroom. Just general things until his fungi infection dies down
Also, you can do the same, too! I’m actually accustomed to wearing slippers indoors except to my own bedroom.
Careful of sheets too. Just anything fabric and even carpet.
Don’t use the same nail clippers or files.
Soaking my feet in a 1:1 mix of warm water and distilled white vinegar 3-4 nights per week has been working for me.

Tea Tree Oil (not exotic available even at Walmart) cured ny husbands massive toe nail fungus he had about a decade. Eventually his super thick damaged nails started lifting off with pristine new nail underneath. Took about 2 months treating them every day before applying socks. Actual doseage available on line.
