  1. Dr. Dray, I’ve had this kind of skin discoloration on my neck (it’s not very noticeable) since I was a kid, about 12 (and I wasn’t a heavy kid). My PCP at age 12 just brushed it off as some hyperpigmentation. I don’t have diabetes and I’ve had blood work several times in my life (I’m 36) and it’s always come back normal. Would problems with my endocrine system show up in my blood work?

    1. My brother was told it’s because he is half black. Lol it ended up being insulin resistance. He was hospitalized as an adult with failing organs due to untreated insulin resistance. He lost over 100lbs and it all went away.

  2. I have this now around my neck. I’m pretty fair so it’s not that noticeable but I can see it. I worry that I am diabetic now.

  3. I have this under my armpits or at least something that looks similar

Could it just be stretch marks? There’s not really a discoloration and I’ve tested for any internal issues, I’m far from any insulin resistance

  4. I worked as a hairstylist for 20+ years. One of the girls I worked with had this. Me being me ā€¦šŸ˜‚ā€¦ I said something to her about her neck and cheeks. I let her know she need to go the doctor. Her doctor diagnosed her with diabetes. She was so grateful . She had no other noticeable symptoms.
