I was surprised at the results that HoneySkin Aloe Gel for Body, Hair, and Face provided me. I rubbed it on my scalp the night before shampooing and woke up with a clear scalp plus my hair looked fresh and clean. I expected some oily residue.
thanks for sharing
Shampooing my hair twice a day has completely cleared up my flaky scalp. My hair’s now thicker than ever.
glad to hear this has helped
Nizoral ketoconazole was super helpful for me when I had yeasty dandruff. Now I am using the nizoral psoriasis shampoo/conditioner for my scalp dryness. It’s really helping
Can this contribute to hair thinning?
@luckyDancer100 for the psoriasis one: i put it on wait a few minutes then wash off. Then I condition twice but that’s just me (once with regular conditioner then again with a hair mask). I only wash my hair once or twice a week. I’m a very dry person lol. This is the same for the ketoconazole. I use a tangle teezer scalp brush to scrub off the flakes and brush my hair in the shower with a tangle teezer brush. I don’t go to bed with wet hair to try and prevent a warm wet environment for yeast to grow. I started using the nizoral ketoconazole after using a prescription ketoconazole and realized the nizoral was effective enough for me. But if your dandruff is serious enough, you should try talking to your doctor about a prescription or other options that work for you.
@Rita Huffstetler I don’t know I’m not a doctor. My hair is extremely thick and always has been genetically
@Jeanette Martinez
Where are you purchasing your products?
Which do you prefer Nizoral ketoconazole or nizoral psoriasis (or both)?
Thank you so much for the helpful information!
@Rita Huffstetler Nizoral is thought to slow down hair loss.
I think using that shampoo brush thingy has helped with my itchiness. I have so much hair and I think it helps with getting the shampoo everywhere for a better cleanse. (Don’t know if I have a dry scalp or dandruff – or if it’s just that I’m a itchy mess 😂 My best tip for that : Antihistamine, lukewarm showers and thick creams. )
glad to hear this has helped! i use far less shampoo now that i am using that brush
I think I saw one of those scalp ” scrubbers” in Target the other day, seems like they’ve become a thing for adults when they were mostly used on babies ( cradle cap prevention? ) Thanks for the explanation and advice. Happy Thursday 🌄
they are handy
@Dr Dray 🙌
@Laura Strobel those scrubbers are also sold for dogs. :-)
@Idk Good idea 🙌
Exactly what I needed! Thank you! I’ve been dealing with an itchy scalp and flakes recently and I switched to Nizoral shampoo. I really like it but I’m still seeing some flakes. I can’t tell if it’s dandruff or just a dry scalp, your videos are always so helpful Dr Dray! ❤
thanks for watching
How do you use nizoral? I can’t seem to get a good lather with it, and if I use more than a nickles worth, it dries my hair out while subsequently not making it feel super clean afterwards. Selsun is the opposite problem where it lathers okay, but makes my hair feel overly clean like it’s been stripped.
@luckyDancer100 I’m not sure, I never had a problem getting a good lather with nizoral, and I don’t feel it’s stripping my hair at all. I’m using the same bottle Dr. Dray recommended in one of her videos, maybe you’re using a different one?
Doctor Dray i can’t stop laughing with your expression << have you lived in our world at all AT ALL >> and yet so true, but given that as it may i just really hope you are calm and cheerful and energetic as always. You always give us your best you are super cool.
Thanks!
I do switch up between salicylic and zinc and I see decent results. I am going to try the scalp massager tool.
I have had this very problem lately! As usual Dr. Dray to the rescue. 💙💜💜💜

Whenever I get a red itchy flaky scalp, I wack on the neem oil. Works a treat every time. Always do a patch test first though.
Thank you Dr. for clarifying the differences.
Question for possible future video:
Do applied co-factors increase collagen production in the skin, when vitamin/molecular deficiency isn’t observed to be present in the body? Such as Vitamin C and copper peptides?
finding this while staring at my dry, flaky scalp & pondering what to do about it 🤣 perfect timing, doc! thank u for the video 💌❤️
You’re so welcome!
True fact – if you live in an area where there’s high lead in the water, don’t use unfiltered water in your humidifier. Peer reviewed research shows you can get high levels of lead through a humidifier if the water has high lead content. Everything is toxic these days. :(
My scalp has been itching. I thought it was dandruff because I saw some flakes but it was not oily. Thanks to Dr. Dray, now I know it wasn’t dandruff it was dry scalp.
Thanks for watching
Something for those who have tried head & shoulders before and didn’t like it, I’ve found Selsum Blue’s zinc shampoo worked better for me, I think because h&s uses that preservative MI now…
hi Dr dray, do you have any advice for those on topical minox and can’t take oral minox due to side effects? My scalp has definitely been flaky and red/inflamed recently but I can’t discontinue it. I also use nizoral keto 1%
Dr. Dray, you are a fount of knowledge. Your hair looks great, your skin glows with health. I like the JOY behind you. Thank you and happy holiday season.
Ive been using ACV with the mother on my scalp for the past few months and it’s helped by dandruff a lot.
I honestly didn’t realize these were two different things. Thanks, Dr Dray for enlightening me. Happy Thursday! Hope you have a cozy evening. 💗

Omg it’s like you read my mind with this video!! I used to wear a bonnet every single night but I noticed my scalp was flaking a lot. Ever since I stopped and let my hair breathe the flakes significantly reduced!
Still have no idea if it was dry scalp or dandruff though!
