I camt even imagine going that long. Ive been growing my hair out a lot longer this past year and so ive started washing it less so it doesnt get too dry. (When its short i just shampoo every day when i shower) but my scalp already gets majorly uncomfortable by day 4 and I feel so much relief once its clean.
@@molliwilson5639Maybe they are black… a lot of black ppl wash hair weekly because otherwise the hair gets very dry and can be damaging to follicles and scalp.
I’m a lucky gal, I wish once a week and it’s absolutely fine for me. My hair is long, thick and curly so a wash day takes me hours. I work and go to school so it’d be impossible for me to wash more and luckily I don’t get any soreness
I know! I’m an outlier in my family with very oily hair and when I think back to everyone on my case for washing my hair every day or every other day and suggesting it’s my fault for “spoiling my scalp by washing it so much, why not try the no poo method” … like guys you don’t even know what you’re talking about 😂
Is it age related? I let my hair get long as it turned grey and the ouchies at the root area I thought may be caused by the texture of the new growth (grey).
From personal experience, my oily scalp hurt if I skip one or two washes since I was a child. I have fine straight hair. But I have a lot of strands of hair. I used to have more when I was younger, but I’m almost 30, and they break a lot. After I had a big loss of hair, it never came back, and I lost the volume 😔
I thought everyone had a painful scalp if they missed a wash day. 😮 Too bad there isn’t something we can apply to the scalp to tone this down! I have curly hair so washing every day ruins my hair, but if I try to go longer than 2 days, it’s painful to touch my head and wash it. 😢
I’ve experienced what the girl in the video is talking about. I get the part about tenderness caused by inflammation, but I suppose the only thing left to wonder is why that pain is always there at the top of the head and not in other areas?
Personally I think it’s a combination of inflammation and physics. If you have excess oil/sebum weighing down the hair follicle, it’s going to tug/pull/create traction on your scalp in a way that can be painful in specific areas. I think also the length and thickness of the hair also contributes to this. That’s my theory anyway!
This can also, in my experience, be tied to buildup irritation when the scalp isn’t properly exfoliated. A scalp brush completely solved it without overshampooing & making my hair dry.
@kalenalexisbeauty9102 how thick is your hair? Mine is as thick as can be, so I went with a pretty strong plastic scalp scrubber with tiny bristles so they would penetrate to my scalp. It wasn’t pricey, I could find the name.
For anyone who can’t wash your hair because maybe you can’t at that moment busy etc… I noticed if I just pour some water over it and massage it like if I was shampooing until the next day when I can wash it. It alleviates the pain and soreness! Try it!
This happens to me!! I figured out it was probably this yeast so I added a dandruff shampoo to help get my scalp cleaner since I only wash my hair every 4-5 days
This is such a weird phenomenon. I’ve had this forever, and it never occurred to me that it’s related to scalp cleanliness. This is a game changer for me. Thank you!
@@Housemusic4ever yh not surprised. I think the feeling ppl are describing in their videos is more to do with the direction of hair. it’s like when you’ve had your hair slicked back with product then try to have it in a different direction it hurts. that’s different to scalp inflammation due to dandruff. she was off the mark here and just went for the obvious answer
Ive felt that even while my hair was clean. Usually after a blow dry and hair wrap set up.😮 also its only sometimes not always i will investigate more this is interesting.
I have seb derm that got worse back in 2020, sores, scabbing, and head soreness to the point of pain. I completely understand the soreness is there even without pulling on it or clipping it with a hair clip. It does get better with better seb derm management.
This happens to me, despite cleansing my hair on my usual every other day (every day makes my hair very dry). I started using Nizoral and Head & Shoulders regularly in the usual “sore spot” areas of my head and bam, problem solved.
*_I’ve felt something similar but it’s more than a sore scalp. It’s kinda like a headache but on the scalp. Flipping the hair around hurts good, pressing the area gives temporary relief & NSAIDS help._* 😳🤔
I get this! But my scalp and hair gets soo dry if I wash any more often. Do you have any recommendations to moisturise the scalp if you have this? I thought oil would just make this even worse but maybe not.
There’s one brand that I really wanted to buy but they won’t let anyone buy their products without consulting first with the admin. It’s an online shop. I thought that’s a good idea so people won’t get misinformed and buy everything because of fomo. It’s a local hair product brand in my country. I already did my researches on theur products. Only needed some clarifying from them before check-out. I chatted with the admin. It’s started okay until I told them I washed my hair 2-3 times a week. I live in a very humid city. I’ve tried not washing my hair up until a week several times but it only left me with smelly and oily scalp. I can bear the smell, but what about other people. I can’t use dry shampoo because it somehow damages my hair. So I choose to wash my hair every three days. But the admin of that online shop was horrified. They told me I was wrong. That I should only wash my hair once a week because that’s the only correct way etc. I already tried that method for months and it didn’t give me any significant difference compared to me washing it every three days. I already explained my situation but they’re still furious. Why are they so mad? I just wanted to buy their products to start a new hair journey but since they made it so complicated I gave up. Every hair is different. Not everything needs one solution for all. I know they have their own value but to ignore the customer’s situation is just meh for me.
This is why when people tell me to wash once a week I cringe because by then it’s so painful!

So, why in the world are you only washing once a week rather than every day? I’m just curious…

Would LOVE a video on scalp pain/soreness!

Maybe you could try Nizoral? Would help tone down the yeast if that is what’s making your scalp hurt.
Does dry shampoo help? It does for me.
I don’t have scalp pain but it can be itchy on second day. I spray hypochlorous acid on and blow dry it and it helps.
I have curly hair and using a scalp exfoliant has been a game changer for me personally with removing dead skin
@@umavanderpuye332 Which one do you use? Thank you

Good question!
That area of the scalp is where it produces more grease/oil.

I get the pain at the whole top of my head. If I wait 1 day more at that I have the pain all over my head.
I’ve heard it’s warmest in that area. Maybe that area is the right combo of warm and moist for the yeast to grow faster than other areas.
This can also, in my experience, be tied to buildup irritation when the scalp isn’t properly exfoliated. A scalp brush completely solved it without overshampooing & making my hair dry.
I don’t really like my scalp brush, what brand are you using?

wash your hair every other day at least

It’s new for me and I’ve been so baffled by it! Now I have an answer.
Didn’t know other people had this too
I suffer from this DAILY BUT I SHAMPOO EVERYDAY!!😢😢😢
let us know if it actually improves now. something tells me she misunderstood what people are complaining about

I’m glad from the comments that I’m not the only person who has to wash every other day. My hair isn’t even greasy when it starts to hurt.
Same here. I was recommended to use and antifungal shampoo one a week. Nizoral dries my hair

I always double shampoo if it gets to this point
But if it’s caused by inflammation, why does it’s painful to put hair one way, but not painful to do it another way?
Yes! It’s definitely true!
Washing my hair every other day is a must for me. And as a black girl, it isn’t normal in my community. But frequent Washing is the game changer.
