  1. I got my first lip line at age 50. I flatten out my top lip when I drink from a straw! I also shave my lip area for fuzz and skin cell turnover. Thank you for the video!

    1. How do you do this?! I’ve tried a million times and I keep somehow spilling whatever I’m drinking all over myself! LOL 😂

    2. like you’re smiling with your lips closed! But it’s more like a grimace. 😂

    3. @@christinehorner Oh my gosh, I’m hopeless. I just tried to grimace and sip through my straw and the last of my iced coffee is now proudly on my keyboard. 😂 At least it didn’t stain my shirt this time! #progressoverperfection

    1. I quit smoking at age 58. For the next thre years, I used Tretinoin every onther day on my upper lip. I stopped using straws. I started taking collagen supplements. I put moisturizer on my upper lip a few times a day. It took three years, but now the lines are MUCH less noticible. Still there, but not nearly as deep. Give it a try. Good luck.

  2. Although, I agree with you on all the causes of lip lines that you addressed, you missed the biggest cause: the dreaded menopause. Even women who have their ovaries removed when they are in their 30s and don’t go HRT tend to struggle with rapid premature aging including lip lines. Hormone loss is a huge cause of wrinkles, sagging, lines.

    1. So true! My constant straw use undoubtedly contributed to my lip lines, but the changes in my skin in record time since menopause is striking. I’m happy to grow older and do my best to roll with this new version of myself, but it really is something. I just get used to the new changes in my face only to wake up the next day with more changes! 😂

    2. So true! I’m post menopausal at 48 and the wrinkles hit hard and fast as soon as I was post menopausal.

    3. Omg, me too. I went through it early and, although I do smoke my skin was pretty good, but it DESTROYED me! I had to renew my license the other day and honestly probably hadn’t looked at it since I got it 8 yrs ago. I WAS STUNNED! I look, I feel, 20 yrs older! I have to quit! But I’m still screwed on the wrinkles!

    4. So true, when you lose your estrogen you lose 30% of your collagen. I don’t smoke or use a straw and I have terrible lip lines. I swear I woke up one day and my face changed dramatically. Take care everyone.

  3. My lines have reduced over last three years from a combination of what I have learned on this channel along with dietary changes. Wasn’t expecting it but I sure am grateful!

    1. @@DrDrayzdaywhat do you think of that Inkylist lip plumping balm? I’m tempted to try it but nervous these types of products plump the lips by irritating them? Would love to know your thoughts.

    2. @@persimmonmuffins Dr Dray doesn’t tend to be a fan of plumping products. The Budget Dermatologist likes the inkey list product though. Dr Dray likes the Paula’s Choice peptide lip product (no plumping).

    3. @@darkredrose7683 Eucerin Original healing lotion on face and neck multiple times daily, Tretinoin daily, sun protection and liter of extra virgin oil oil per week from a quality source.

    4. That’s awesome! Dr Dray is helpful in so many ways. Happy Monday, Uncle Charlie! I hope you had a nice day. Peace, joy and many blessings, my friend. 🙏🕊☕

  4. I find using a fresh Aloe Vera leaf – cut off thorny side and wrap snd keep in fridge- and every night i rub it face, neck, top of hands, elbows and feet including heels. Takes only a few seconds to dry . The difference in a week has been very motivating. Skin so soft!
I sometimes scrape flesh out of leaf and blend it, and then use that. Or cut flesh into cubes and freeze to use on face and upper chest on hot days.
Anyone else tried this? Thoughts or advice Dr Dray?

  5. I have used Blistex
    Medicated Lip Ointment for over
    40 Years.
    Very few wrinkles
    and cost effective!

  6. What ?? I was just searching for this topic searching lip lines dr.dray and theres none, and now its here♥️😍

  7. I wish that maintaining one’s weight from a very early age would be addressed. Gaining and losing weight is major cause of both premature facial wrinkles along with body skin sagging. The only other factor, without a doubt is sun exposure & smoking. We are getting incredibly defrauded by the unrealistic dreams sold by cosmetic companies and many plastic surgeons who now have their own brands of “miracle anti-aging over priced products”.
Thank you, Dr Dray for the countless years, of research that you so generously share. Your ageless beauty is an absolute reflection of the enormous knowledge contained within your platform.

  8. Not a straw user. Never a smoker. I see the lines, faintly, but they’re there (I’m 40). My face can be quite expressive, though. And I’m fair and even though I’m great at regular sunscreen use now, I wasn’t always.

I despise these lines so much. It has actually surprised me how much they bother me. I never thought I was going to be that kind of person that was super bothered with an aging appearance, but here we are.

    1. You can minimize them for a time however you’d be better served by accepting the inevitable aging process and make peace with it. Otherwise you run the risk of looking like those unfortunate celebrities that aren’t recognizable anymore because of their addiction to plastic surgery.

  9. Never smoked rarely drank out of a straw have some light lines around mouth not deep. But you get close you can see fine lines. I am 58 use sunscreen retina A prescription!
There Not gone. Thanks Jennifer 😊

  10. Dr. Dray, I love your videos! Many years ago you made some videos on procedures such as dermabrasion and micro needling. It would be great if you could update us on any new research about them. Thank you! 🫶🏽

    1. She has one on RF microneedling from about a year ago. Plastic surgeon Dr Amir Karam has a video breaking down the difference between microneedling, RF and PRP.

  11. Good points , but the biggest reason for lip Lines or any wrinkles or Lines is caused by menopause . You litteraraly can see your face changing over night ! Im 51 and In full blown menopause With all symptoms and more . My wrinkles has gone from tiny to many In one year . Menopause is a lifechanger .

    1. However menopause did not affect wrinkles or lip lines for me. They came much later, even closer to my 70’s.

  12. I have some lines around my lips. They have improved since I started using Tretinoin. I also moisturize my face well and on top of the areas around my lips and eyes, I immediately apply vaseline on top of the moisturizer to lock it in and this also helps! I think lip filler around the lips, especially a lot of filler, looks deformed (not a good look), and using a little filler doesn’t seem to help the lines much. I’m curious to try red light therapy and micro needling. Everywhere else on my face is very smooth, very few wrinkles at almost age 59!

  13. Off topic I know but your recommendation on the Banana Boat Protection + Vitamins Face sunscreen is spot on. I love it and even love reapplying it throughout the day.
