I’ve heard of it. I think those people are just trying to get you to buy more stuff. They recommend you apply the chemical sunscreen first, and then mineral sunscreen on top.
Paula’s Choice has a nice gwp. Some SPF on sale but then also a free sun cap gwp, Worth $25 I think. Any full price sunscreen, including those on sale. SPF gloss on sale
This may be true to some extent but I have melasma which develops when my skin gets hot. It has been my experience that chemical sunscreens make it worse whereas mineral sunscreens pretty much prevent it altogether. This led me to believe that chemical sunscreens somehow held heat at the surface while mineral ones blocked/ reflected it.
To be honest, I don’t know about that. I’d say the more likely thing happening is that maybe your skin is a liiiiitle sensitive to the chemical filters, because sensitivity can make your skin feel hot as well.
What???? Wow. I have ultra sensitive skin from being on tret. But denatured alcohol will burn. I’m currently loving la roche posay mineral spf50. Super elegant formula, doesn’t require tons of rubbing.
Lab beauty muffin also says the same thing and shes a cosmetic chemist. She also did a side by side and showed they both absorbed uv light on her skin.
I believe that we are all so confused about all this thing with sunscreens so i i will follow Dr. Dray’s advice and use what i like to use. Thank you Dr. By the way i use Frezyderm spf (they are Greek sunscreens)which are not mineral for many years now and my face is just fine and i am 55. 🙂😘❤
I want to try Korean or Japanese sunscreen, because a lot of the sunscreens I’ve tried since starting tretinoin burns and sting like I’ve applied liquid fire.🔥 I’ve purchased a few different mineral sunscreens but they leave me looking like Casper the friendly ghost 👻 Something affordable would be a must because money and i are strangers right now.😢 Thank you and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.🙋♀️ PS can you buy any of those sunscreens in a store in the USA or only online. 🤷
A dermatologist I saw told me not to use chemical sunscreen.. EVER! He said chemical sunscreens will eventually senitize/irritate the skin, especially when using tretinoin. True or not?
Hi Dr Dray great to be here this evening as well as earlier today. Thanks for sharing this info. Have a Good Night.

They both release heat, but on a micro scale…not enough to impact body temperature or temperature at skin surface
Enough about sunscreens.
Thanks Dr. Dray for this information😊
What’s the difference between chemical and mineral sunscreens then?🤔
The ingredients
@Dr Dray Thanks for asking! I’m your fan. Greetings from Chile!
Yes, and everytime a dermatologist refuses to acknowledge the not so new data that proves this, I roll my eyes lol.
🧴🔥🔥🔥👍….

Does it have white cast?
so the only difference between them is the ingredients aka the sunscreen filter itself right?
I had a whole argument w a co worker about this lol nice to hear Dr. Dray reaffirm the truth.🙃
So what’s the difference ? Which is good for pigmentation prone skin ?
Any sunscreen that you can apply religiously 🙂
You’re the only dermatologist I’ve heard say that. So I am skeptical

It defers person to person. Mineral sunscreen irritates my skin. After applying my skin burns alot
