Verdio has definitely been on my to-try list. I’m always on the look out for good water resistant sunscreens. I’ll definitely get that one soon.
let me know how you like it
Ginseng is pronounced, Jinsing.
@Maggie 220 what?
I didn’t realize it was water resistant. It’s great. Suuuuuuper light and watery.
Hi everyone! Normally a sun dodger, I was outside from 9-5 yesterday doing gardening & yard work. I wore & constantly reapplied broad spectrum 50+ sunscreens, also foundation. I wore covered clothing, hat, sunglasses & gardening gloves. I used my huge wheelie bin as a source of shade. It was a sunny spring day. I am pleased to announce that my skin shows no sign of being in the sun at all!
l and the garden looks so much better. I lost a few kilograms too!
I used rhe Cancer Council sunscreen on my face and just an Aldi one on my neck & ears. I also used it on my body before I put on my long sleeved, high neck top. I wore jeans & Ugg boots, so my legs & feet didn’t need sunscreen. I wear sunscreen 365 days of the year. I have pale skin & green eyes, btw. No mosquitoes so far thank goodness! I have my hydrocolloid patches ready though

TBH, I haven’t found any sunscreen including mineral sunscreen that doesn’t sting my eyes a little. Some more than others, but I still feel the sting. I also am discovering that I don’t care for the tinted sunscreens for daily use. If I were going to apply some makeup, which for me is rarer than seeing a lunar eclipse, then I would probably use the tinted sunscreen as my foundation. But otherwise, I prefer no tint.
Have any of you sensitive eyed ladies out there found your “perfect” sunscreen that doesn’t sting your eyes? Recommends appreciated!😊
Hi Nada B. Hope you’re doing well. Take care.
@not applicable Try applying a fragrance free SPF 50+ lip balm around your eyes instead as it doesn’t run like options & creams. I hope this helps. Btw, I used the Cancer Council (Dewy Finish) without any stinging, but with a primer, and an SPF foundation & concealer on top.

@d b Hi db, I’m great thank you. I really hope you are too. I still watch Dr Dray everyday and read all/most of the comments, but haven’t been commenting lately. I used to watch, reply & comment in real-time at 2am (Australian time) most days. Apart from not being good for my beauty sleep, now the light from my phone awakes my partner. However, last night I tried having my phone on low light, but was then horrified to see my typos in the morning!

I love the Neutrogena Daily Defense. Works great under makeup and doesn’t make me break out. I’m 50+ with mostly oily skin.
That first one sounds like something my teenage boys should try. I loved the kroger one until I found using it every day I started to have some type of rection to it. Which stinks cause I really liked it! And love the drmtlgy too but right now it is too dark for me – unless I use sunless tanner on my neck.
For other ultra frugal types: i used the dollar tree sun basics chemical sunscreen daily since june and i am extremely happy with it. Dr Dray hasnt tried it but checked the inkey & said 👍. The formula does well for face & chest, as well as body, it’s quite light so i use a Gold Bond cream over it, but i have extremely dry skin so i never wear just 1 lotion. I’ve always reapplied when outdoors all day, but with spf setting sprays or day lotion w spf, which arent the bestest methods, and still had excellent protection. No sunburns, no new spots. I also use alpha arbutin and vit c, but as a basic sunscreen, these sun basics’ options are great. All appear to be same formula, other than 30 vs 50. Sport and baby have same inkey as regular. I bought enough to last til next may with a few to share at outdoor events (for work). The only time i had eye stinging was when the fire smoke in air was at its peak and eyes get very sensitive. I keep a mineral option on hand for those times or when i want a more matte finish specifically, but 99% of the time, i use these! They are 3 oz which is decent for a face sunscreen, they last me 30 days in summer, but will last longer as i stop needing to cover my arms and shoulders. I use heavy application of spray spf elsewhere, gotta use it up lol!
Good to know that the Sun Basics is a good option. I impulse bought the SPF 50 Kids version from my local Dollar Tree but was hesitant to use it because I figured it might not have good UVA coverage (I have a dark skin tone but also use Vit C). Will start using it.
Thanks Dr Dray, I have tried so many of your sunscreen recommendations and they never disappoint!! Thanks for all your hard work, have just ordered the Dermatology now too ♥️♥️
If you have thick skin (men), the Isntree sunscreen will leave your skin very shiny because much of it won’t penetrate your skin barrier. This is also the case with the Ginseng Beauty of Joseon sunscreen, very shiny finish. I’ve tried both and ended up only using them on the days I stayed at home indoors.
Im I the only person who goes broke buying sunscreen everytime dr dray comes out with a new suncreen empties video lol?
Haha! Nope! My husband can attest to this too! Lol

🙋🏻😁
🙋🏽♀️guilty!
DMTLGY is the absolute best tinted sunscreen I have tried and I’ve tried a lot. Thanks Dr dray.
have you tried the cotz tinted sunscreen?
That & EltaMD for me!
I can’t use any❤other sunscreen
@I_come_out_after_dark no not yet. If it is cheaper than DMTLGY then I might give it a try. 😆
Black girl sunscreen has been a great gym sunscreen. Holds up well throughout my workout and does not sting my eyes
Why do you wear sunscreen indoors?
Probably because, windows.
I am loving Madagascar Centella Water Fit and Beauty of Joseon. It seems ridiculous that Target doesn’t carry the up and up lip balm in the store. But I ordered it recently and truly love it. I also use the aquaphor lip repair with sunscreen.
I love the kroger unseen sunscreen dupe. It’s reasonably priced, doesn’t leave a cast and doesn’t make me shiny. So far it’s my favorite matte sunscreen. One drawback is it does pill if you aren’t careful with what you put on under it. 😊
Thanks!
Just started using AmLactin for KP and sebaceous filaments. Works like a flippin’ charm! I’d love a video on junctional complexes and the physiology of structural stability! ❤
Good to hear! Wish I could get my teenage son to use it more!
I have been using the Banana Boat for face and its wonderful for the face. No burning of my eyes and no white cast. Great for my sisters and brothers of color. I love it!
Is it greasy/shiny?
I would like to know if you apply the sunscreen around your eyes doesn’t burn or sting cuz I want to try it but I’m scare of the sting or burning. Plis let me know.
As always…thank you for taking the “hit” for the team, We really appreciate it!
I am very new to skincare and hate to say this, but have neglected my skin for years. Getting older, started looking at skin care recently and came across this channel. It blows my mind how much I could have done for myself over the years, but didn’t. I have a very mild case of rosacea and have been using CeraVe a.m. for a while. I wasn’t using it for sunscreen per se, just for moisturizer in the morning. I don’t think I gave it much thought when I picked it. They had an a.m. version and a p.m. version at the store, which seemed easy enough, so I bought both. The a.m. one does sting for a bit and my rosacea is not improving nor getting worse with it. I have no reaction to p.m. one. I think I just accepted the stinging as something related to my skin that I have to deal with. I am now wondering if I should try a different moisturizer/sunscreen. Any recommendations for rosacea skin?
Look up the Oat Gel Moisturizer from Aveeno, or their Calm & Restore, or their Redness Relief products or just their oat Gel products in general. You’ll find the dermatologists on YouTube love them for a reason. Soft, easy on the skin and calm my own rosacea. The sunscreen I use is the tinted Flex Sunscreen from Color Science for my face, and the Bondi Sands sunscreen for my body. It’s been my final/holy grail routine for a long time now.
@Kane Wolfgang thank you – I will!
I love the dermatology tinted spf, and have found that signing up for their specials on their website allows me to save $$. They have 20% and 30% off specials and is worth buying a few when they do this. I actually do this with all the skincare companies I shop with. You don’t have to buy full price if you wait and stock up.
I found the Eucerin discounted at my Target and tried it and really love it for my body. I just can use so very few chemical sunscreens on my face because most irritate my eyes – but weirdly enough, the Kroger “glowscreen” dupe does not and i’ve been using it all summer.
The Isntree watery sun gel leaves my face so shiny; way more than any of the dozens of sunscreens that I’ve tested. Strange, to me, how different everyone else’s experience is with it!
I agree! I think the shiniest of any of the Asian sunscreens I’ve tried.
I have been loving beauty of joseon matte mugwort sunstick. The matte finish is very nice visually to me. It can be drying but I just apply a bit of moisturizer before and it’s fine. The green tint it has also helps cover the slight redness on my face which I also love. Apieu aqua sun gel was also pretty good despite the fragrance.
I did not like the tocobo hyalyronic acid gel sunscreen and round lab birch juice sunscreen as much as I thought I would, especially the round lab birch juice one. I am dry but it still felt rather heavy me on me and it really wasn’t sweat resistant so it wasn’t ideal for me even if I was not going exercising.
