Thank you!! How often should I use it when first starting? Like once a week?
I did it every 3 days and when I used it I put a moisturizer on my skin before the retinoid. After 2 weeks I increased it to every 2 days and now I use it 5 times a week.
Same for any generic medication! Unless youāre allergic or sensitive to the inactive ingredients, go with the generic always!

I started using it on my back acne and it started working the first week. I use the walgreens version.

I don’t know if you remember me… but I commented on your video asking if tretinoin could help rosacea. Since I have no insurance, would it be ok if I tried adapalene?
I asked my derm and he said it would aggravate my rosacea and wouldnt write me script for tret, So Iam afraid to even use Differin and get a major rosacea flare up. Maybe Dr. Dray will tell us something on thisš
My friend has rosacea and is on tretinoin. They just have to use it over moisturizer and only twice a week (to maybe once a week-dependent on person). That being said, they are using it to treat acne, I don’t think tretinoin is the go to topical for rosacea. Dr. Dray does have some good videos on rosacea though
If you decide to go with a generic, you need to look at the other ingredients in the product and compare them to the adapalene that you are using to make sure you are sensitive to any of them. You may be fine with the the other ingredients in the Differin gel, but not with some of the ingredients in the generic one and vice versa.
is it the same formulation because it goes through the FDA? vs non regulated cosmetics
I believe so because its still considered a OTC medication and not a cosmetic. (also I think cosmetics go through the FDA as well, but that’s more for the sake of not being poisonous)
What about the Differin Moisturising Lotion, is it safe for Rosacea skin?

Dr. Dray has said in previous videos that she used to use adapalene and then transitioned to tretinoin. Speak to your dermatologist before making the transition if you start Differin/adapalene, and avoid using them concomitantly on the same area of skin unless advised otherwise.
She has also said in other videos that she believes adapalene likely also has some of the same benefits for increasing collagen, though the two drugs work differently, and tretinoin is the gold standard for this indication.
Adapalene is usually specific to acne treatment. A dermatologist may instead suggest trying regular retinol or retinaldehyde as a starter retinoid, as they are considered less irritating than tretinoin.
So all dermatologists only advise one solution- retinoid? It seems like it is the only solution for staying young and having good skin
Would you use this as a retinol for anti-aging or is it just for acne? Iām confused about the difference between adapalene and retinol as far as uses and strength.
I believe she has videos going into more detail about different types of retinoids. I don’t remember much, but I do know adapalene is simply one type of retinoid (there are several and they all do different/similar things). Adapalene is specifically designed to address acne and limiting the oils in sebaceous glands (pores). If you want a retinol specifically for dark spots, wrinkles, and other skin imperfections, I recommend looking in her videos elaborating and recommending products that address those particular issues.

Also, quick note: adapalene (brand name Differin) can be purchased over the counter. The best retinoid (Tretinoin) can only be prescribed by a licensed Dermatologist, implying adapalene is pretty gentle (weaker) of most retinoids š
Itās a retinoid, so of course it will have āanti-agingā benefits. But thereās others that a formulated better for āanti-agingā like trentinoin. Differin is more targeted for acne. But it still has benefits for for stuff like wrinkles and what not.
I have gotten sensitive to differin after 2 years of using it about to try out the generic prescription version i got since my insurance suddenly canāt get me differin anymore. Idk if the formula has changed.
Does tretinion really remove wrinkles?I have been using tretinion for my laugh lines for 5 months and I still have them. I dont have acne I keep hearing tretinion removes wrinkles its for aging. I have seen no results.Please respond
