I completed the AviClear treatment about a year ago for adult cystic acne. It definitely reduced the frequency and severity of breakouts but I still need to use my regular topical treatments to prevent occasional breakouts. I had taken a course of isotretinoin in my early 20s which led to nearly complete prevention of breakouts for years but my acne eventually came back. AviClear wasn’t as effective as isotretinoin for me, but was definitely worth it because there were zero side effects compared to the severe dryness I experienced with isotretinoin.
I too have cystic acne and I too have taken a course of isotretinoin 1 year ago. But my cystic acne has come again and I am again on that same course rec by ny dermat. Can you tell me what topical treatments you apply when your cystic acne comes again ?ps: I hope it doesn’t come, wishing u a healthy, clear skin, hehe :)
OMG! As a fellow adult acne suffferer and a recidivist consumer of isotritenoin, I appreciate soooooo much that you shared your experience. Although my liver and absolutely all kind of blood checks are, thanks God, perfect, I’ m fed up with periodical isotreti-courses every few years. My skin type is roller coaster to oily🎢😅. I am 44 and have always hah acne prone skin. In my adult years, I’ve been able to manage it with tretinoin pretty well with a breakout here and there. However around 2 years ago it started getting really bad, mostly on my jawline/chin and, for some strange reason, on my temples. I know it’s bc my hormones are changing due to my age. I chose the Accure laser instead of aviclear- same type of laser, both fda approved for acne. I did 3 treatments (close to $5k total). It has really helped in reducing the amount, size, and duration of pimples. It has not completely eliminated the acne – i still use tretinoin, topical OTC acne products., too. If you go this route, be prepared to break out after each session. My skin isn’t any drier than before (I think I just have a ton of sebum produced in my pores!).

Thank you, Dr. Dray, I have been waiting for you to address Aviclear. I am seriously considering it. I failed Accutane treatment in my 20s and am still struggling with acne in my 40s.
There’s also the Accure laser, which is also 1726nm wavelength for selective phototermolysis of sebaceous glands. This would be good to treat seborrhea and sebaceous hyperplasia as well since it selectively targets the sebaceous glands at this specific wavelength.

Dr Dray, this is off-topic. I am 45 & dealing with rosacea. I saw a video of yours from four years ago where you promote procure rosacare.
I’ve been reading so much conflicting information about what to use/not to use with rosacea. I read that any type of glycol is bad. Another product you from that line contains butylene glycol.
Is it true people with rosacea (especially the broken capillary kind) must refrain from all glycols? And what about bakuchiol or tretinoin & vitamin C?
Would it be possible to get an updated video on rosacea?
