I live in a warm tropical climate and it’s actually been better for my rosacea for some wired reason, like I flush with a heat pump or a fire but not a warm climate
I finally went to the dermatologist for the little bumps because I thought they were acne since I’ve always had acne growing up. It’s a type of rosacea and she put me on ivermectin and azelaic acid and it cleared up in just a few weeks!
Yes, that’s a subtype of Rosacea (Acne Rosacea). My dermatologist prescribed a compounded cream for me, made of 15% Azelaic Acid, 1% Ivermectin, and 1% Metronidazole. Those are the powerhouse Rosacea meds all in one cream. Cleared me right up, and much cheaper than just the Ivermectin solutions for Rosacea.
I had a happy accident. I used my at home hair laser removal device on my face for peach fuzz and my rosacea disappeared. Unfortunately the puffy nasal labial folds and 3XL pores stuck around but the redness is completely gone. I just make sure I use sunscreen every day cuz I don’t want that to ever come back!
Toners help me manage rosacea by intensely hydrating and cooling my skin after cleansing. The more hydrated my skin the less I flare. You just need to use soothing and gentle products. The only acid you really want for rosacea is azelaic acid
@@blahhlucypeople use the word ‘toners’ differently though. They call strong liquid acids, toners also. I’m with you though, I love a soothing milky toner.
I’ve actually learned all these tips from just trial and error managing my eczema. I’ve gotten so much better at dealing with flare ups. These things can help eczema too
I have rosacea and I also come from the generation who used to slather ourselves with crisco and literally fry in the sun to get a tan. I finally started using sunscreen religiously a few years ago and I have to say that using sunscreen alone has helped my rosacea more than anything…..
All you said is true, no spice no chocolate, no direct sunlight. Always walk in shade, dont ever ‘get a little sun’ – bad idea every time, it overheats you all over. Hat hat hat ❤
My triggers are actually winter months more than summer. Sun doesn’t affect me terribly. Wind, cold dry air and indoor heat in the winter time. Going from the cold dry outdoors into the dry indoor hot heat kills me! Alcohol is brutal. Fortunately I don’t drink but maybe 1 or 2 per year if at all, and stress is definitely killer for me.and fortunately foods seem to be fine. I have it well under control now as it’s been many years. My skin actually looks good. But those winter flare ups can be uncomfortable and sometimes unavoidable. Finding your triggers and simple , soothing and healing skincare routine that works for you is so important. Also topical triple cream is my holy grail! Ivermectin, Azelaic acid and metro gel.. Talk to your derm for sure!
I use fragrance free products – skin care and cosmetics , my laundry soap are all fragrance free. Spicy foods, tomatoes, and the sun do aggravate my rosacea. The Vanicream Facial Moisturizer SPF 30 is a mineral sunscreen with Zinc Oxide works well for me :) I change my towels and pillow case often, I use a satin pillow case that doesn’t scratch my skin. Thanks for sharing Dr. Dray :)
I live in the south, it’s humid all summer. Also, chocolate and tomatoes and citrus, you’re killing me, I love those things, uhg.

Dude why does the sun through the car window cause such a flareup?!? I thought I was just crazy for noticing that!
Same!! Always get so red in the car
How about the little bumps that accompany the redness?
I’d assume that avoiding the triggers would eventually improve the texture because there would be less inflammation, but I’m no expert.

What’s the name of the device? I need one of those, lol.
@@llamamama222it’s called Rose Skin. I bought my on Black Friday
My derm is anti-toners and acids as well. It made me so sad to hear that 😢
it varies a lot though from person to person and what exactly the formulation is like

😢 I know
Yasssss😂 omgosh!!!😅
Made a great foot scrub tho
It’s the best body scrub though
Oh girl… I’m convinced this is what gave me permanent red splotches on my cheeks. Also, DIY face masks.. lemon, raw egg, cat litter (iykyk) 😭
Thank you Dr. Dray for this short. Rosacea is definitely horrible to deal with. Very grateful for this information ❤
I’ve had rosacea since I was 23 and I’m in my late 40’s. I can tell since I’m post-menopausal mine has improved.
Well, that’s good news!
Honestly, can’t wait for the post-menopausal break from these wide spanning negative effects that being a fertile female has on quality of life. 😮💨😅
Ice chips in mouth tip sounds great doctor!🥰

My mom gave me spaghetti as a kid and after the tomato sauce was all over my face, my face was a hot mess! Tomatoes trigger histamine.

Azelaic acid also worked for me
Yeah, took me a while to realize that part of my redness was caused by sun exposure, but some by C-vitamin serums.

YES! This compounded cream from my dermatologist cleared mine right up.
@@angiepattillo3599it’s a miracle cream! Having a great derm is key! Rosacea is no joke!
And keep your pillow cases clean! Not changing my pillow cases often enough is a trigger for my rosacea.
