Years ago I used to use Monistat chafing relief gel as primer. It has many of the same ingredients as expensive primers. It worked pretty well and I’m assuming it is safe because it is an actual skincare product not a medication.
There’s a “holistic masters esthetician” here on YT recommending this daily, plus Monistat, fear mongering of chemical sunscreens and of course, her 20+ step skincare line.
BTW, I remember a behind the scenes of Céline Dion using this prior her makeup.
@@Angela_in_CA Absolutely!! Glad to see I’m not the only one who noticed that. Toxic positivity, and her views cannot be challenged at all. She actually cultivated her following by leaving self-promoting comments on channels aimed at 50+ women and giving away her products to the content creators in exchange for positive reviews.
@VeganismIsDeath-cz9mn hollering already 😭 I got like 5 or 6 shorts in and she’s talking about how eye cream is one of the most important skincare items&she’s been using it since the 3rd grade… GIRL, NO YOU HAVE NOT. Stop the lies lmao
Doesn’t milk of mag get crusty though? Every time i open the bottle to give some to my patients its all crusted at the rim. I wouldn’t want it drying like that on my face. Ew
I really dislike the trend of using nonskincare as skincare. Like, with all the affordable, high quality options these days there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Avoid the risk and just use what’s already been thoroughly tested and proven to work.
This is a “hack” that was popular in the late 2000s/early 2010s, but it was pretty drying for the oily folks who used to do it. Modern makeup primers are much more sophisticated now
What will TikTok use next?
i shudder to think ….it is pretty funny tho
This was popular in the late 2000s, early 2010s
Even before tiktok MUAs were suggesting milk of magnesia as a primer for oily skin.
Wait…. isn’t this milk used for constipation??
YES

I came here to ask about this lol. It is basically just pure dimethicone so I know it’s not bad for your skin but how does it hold up under makeup?
@@annabelle6422it’s been a while but I remember it holding up well. It’s really good at filling and minimizing large pores.
I’ve seen people use this nightly as a mask for their skin along with using monistat for their skin. Not sure about those but it doesn’t seem good
I would never use that. 😊
I think Paula Begoun recommended using Milk of Magnesia as a mask back in the 1980’s.
Totally remember that. That’s how I learned about it.
Why not just use primer? There are so many available now in different formulas and at various price points. Oh, wait – this dude wants views.
Old-fashioned remedy for chickenpox & other itches. Plus it used to come in a mint version.
I blame Tyra Banks 😅
This is new to them not new to me. We use to do this over 20 years ago…
i knew this was gonna be good 😂😂
What about people who use monistat chafe cream for primer?

YES. And if you can’t push back on that esthetician’s inaccurate science. It’s a closed circle over there.
What’s their channel name?! I need a good laugh 😂

Say what you really want to say, these people will put anything on their faces
Why are people using weird stuff when there are perfectly good products designed for these purposes?
We used to dab it on pimples back in the 80s and they would dry up, we also used calamine lotion to do the same.
