I’ve been on tretinoin since 19 yrs old for acne and still on it today at 35….so glad I started early! I am happy with my skin, ppl say I look young for my age 😊
As a 21 y/o I have been using the cerave resurfacing retinol serum for a while now and It’s one of the few things that helps me with texture (my pores are prone to getting clogged and whiteheads would eventually turn into very painful pimples) I had tried many things (during a very long period of time, not all at once) and nothing has made an impact the same way the cerave serum has.
@haileyelizabitz When I was younger I used the Cerave moisturizing cream. Now I use Klairs Blue Calming Cream and or Cosrx Advanced Snail 92 All in one Cream. ☺️
I don’t get why people need to state things as fact. I wish I started using a retinol OTC sooner and then moved onto tretinoin like I am using now because it has done great things for my skin and not just reduce the fine lines I was seeing and from the sun damage on my back that the tretinoin has almost gotten rid of.
I’ve noticed there’s a decent amount of people who don’t think teens should even use tret, at all. It makes me really angry, especially when there’s teens in comments asking about what ingredients to use for acne and someone says tret isn’t for teens.
LIKE IT WAS DEVELOPED FOR ACNE AND TESTED ON THEM. I’ve had really bad acne in the past, and it upsets me that an undereducated person might steer someone away from something that might be the thing that helps them get their breakouts under control.
I was prescribed retin-a (tretinoin) for my acne when I was 12-13, which for me was the 8th grade. It definitely helped with my acne AND it made my cheeks quite pink/rosy. A trade off I suppose I dealt with bc of the results. I also took oral tetracycline and THAT was a game changer. Not sure if it’s even prescribed anymore but it got rid of my back acne and helped my confidence like no other! Thankful to this day that I had parents who understood what acne was like and took my brother and I to the pediatrician and dermatologist as soon as we started to develop more mild-moderate acne ❤. I feel very fortunate.
Been using retinol since 24 and it has transformed my facial skin. Improved texture plumpness and overall hydration. Also it quite literally forces you to wear sunscreen because it makes you more sensitive to UV rays. So in my head it actually acts as a motivator and reminder for me to wear sunscreen in the first place!!
I’m 68, and my dermatologist told me I look like I’m in my ’40s because of my skin. 😊 Sometimes I wonder if it’s because I had such acne and had to go on retinol as a teenager! 😊
I personally will not listen to any advice discouraging me from using anti-aging treatments unless that person has seen what my mom and aunt and other family members look like. Premature aging is a REAL genetic problem in some families, my mother looks decades beyond her age even with wearing sunscreen for the majority of her life. So yes I will go ahead and be obsessed with anti-aging while I’m in my 20s because although I love my mother, I really do not desire to look like her. I know that anti-aging skincare may not be enough in these types of cases but I still do it and if I ever need fillers, Botox, or surgery in the future then I will definitely do it and go to a good surgeon who gives me that good natural look. I really don’t care about the opinions of people who don’t deal with extreme premature aging in their family, they don’t know the looming fear of looking like a literal senior citizen by the age 40. I understand that most people aren’t in my situation but still, people like the first girl shouldn’t make generalizations because there are always going to be people like me who really do need to start the anti-aging stuff early

I started tretinoin (Ziana) at age 16. My skin did great with it after a period of adjustment.
Jw, what moisturizer did you or do you use with that strong of a retinol?

Retinol helped my acne in my early 20’s before I’d heart of tretinoin! So glad I used it.

Don’t you just love when people who don’t know what they are talking about give an opinion on something? 😂
