  1. I also only use antiperspirant. I’ve never had an issue with underarm odor thanks to having the ABCC11 gene.

    1. All humans have the ABCC11 gene. It’s a *specific variant of the gene* that leads to dry earwax and absent body odor.
Weird that someone would know that they have those gene-linked symptoms and then make the effort to post a comment about it (especially when sharing the info is not meaningful to the video discussion ), yet that person lacks basic knowledge about the condition – made obvious by stating that they don’t have body odor issues because they “have the ABCC11 gene”. Yet all people have the ABCC11 gene. Having it is not a unique condition. Having a *specific mutation of the gene* is the unique condition.

    2. @@mandyheart8754 as a person that had no clue that gene even exists until 2 minutes ago, this reply is funny af! i learned something today, thank you

    1. @@db-gb5xiI think Dr. Dray has not covered Alum Block/Stones in her videos. I personally think they are great. At least on my skin, not irritating at all, and completely odorless and colorless.

  2. Salt crystal deodorant is what I use. And I used to STINK, like bad. I tried absolutely everything, but the only thing that has helped….is salt crystal.

    1. My mom and I used to use salt crystal deodorants. Then I developed a chemical burn from it and it stopped working for my mom. How long have you been using a salt crystal deodorant?

  3. I know this might be controversial but as a student nurse I’ve obviously been taught a lot about chlorhexidine gluconate, it kills and inhibits gram + and – bacteria, fungi, and it generally takes about 20-30 seconds to kill them. Surgeons use it before surgery and it continues to work after rinsing. So I just decided on a whim to try it out under my armpits (make sure you DO NOT get it in your ears and eyes) at the beginning I used it more frequently but now I only use it around once a week and just use regular body wash every day. My armpits smell great (and by that I mean they don’t smell at all). I also pair it with a fragrance free crystal deodorant. They just don’t smell anymore and I love it.

    1. @@makaithreads2261 they aren’t the same. Chlorhexidine Gluconate destroys microorganisms on contact while Benzoyl Peroxide prevents bacterial growth by introducing an unlivable environment. Chlorhexidine gluconate results in fewer side effects too (etc. dryness and peeling). Chlorhexidine gluconate is used before surgery to kill bacteria and continues working after rinsing it. Benzoyl peroxide is typically used for acne treatment. Both work great, and I imagine they both would work to eradicate body odour, but they are different.

    2. @@makaithreads2261 they aren’t the same, and their mode of action are different too. One kills an array of bacteria (Chlorhexidine gluconate) and continues to do so after rinsing, the other introduces oxygen to the pores and makes it an unliveable environment (benzoyl peroxide). Chlorhexidine gluconate is typically used before surgery, meanwhile benzoyl peroxide is typically used for acne treatment. I imagine both would work well to get rid of body odour. But they are different.

    3. YouTube keeps deleting my reply and it isn’t even offensive… I’m just trying to explain how chlorhexidine gluconate and benzoyl peroxide are different, and have different modes of action.

  4. Why no mentioning of alum stones/blocks, also known as crystal deodorants? Just water them and rub them on armpits. Completely odorless and colorless, and zero irritation on my skin.

    1. I tried several brands of those crystal deodorants. They didn’t work well for me, and the salt badly burned my skin. I have very sensitive skin.
I ended up trying a roll on deodorant that contains essential oils. It’s made by Real Purity. I find it works well for me, and while I sometimes do perspire a bit, it seems to contol odor for about 24 hours and doesn’t stain my clothes. I’ve been using it for over 5 years with little to no sensitivity issues. 😊

  5. Do you have an alternative to benzoyl peroxide? I am very allergic to it, the whole redness and swelling and itching and then going ‘Hm, maybe it’s a coincidence I’m having issues in the spot I patch tested this’ and trying it again which lead to slight blistering. I’ve been using salcylic face wash under my under arms lately but I don’t know if it has the same effect.

    1. lulu pfp spotted! some other comment recommended chlorhexidine gluconate, quote: “it kills and inhibits gram + and – bacteria, fungi, and it generally takes about 20-30 seconds to kill them. 2. look up using glycolic acid. I think Dr Dray has a video about it. TBH I can’t remember the verdict but it is worth looking up

  6. Take a shower , use soap, wash your hair 😂 I know people who think taking a shower, should not be done daily, take a shower people

    1. showers can be really rough on dry skin esp if you have hard water+are in a dry environment… you really dont NEED to shower daily unless you sweat

  7. Anti-perspirant ever since I was a teen. Short stints with deodorants never amounted to much, in my case. I just can’t do it.

  8. antiperspirant stains my white shirts yellow so i don’t use it. i use hypochloruous acid on my underarms immediately after showering and washing them, then apply my deodorant. the hypochlouous acid kills the microbes that cause body odor. it works well for me. if i worked out at a gym i’d take the hypochlorous acid spray with me just so the bacteria don’t get a head start after my sweating

    1. you get antiperspirants that don’t stain fabric. None of my clothing has any stains and I use ample antiperspirants

    2. Fels-naptha works well at removing yellow stains and the remaining odor from antiperspirant/deodorant in the armpit area of shirts. I take my shirts as I am throwing things in, wet the under arm area and rub the inside and out of the shirt with fels-naptha and wash as normal, and it does a good job of breaking down the residue and removing the stain. With repeated use it will eliminate the stains and odor. It works well for white or colored clothes without effecting the color of the garment. Adding oxiclean with the fels-naptha will also increase the stain and odor removal and hasn’t had an adverse affect on my clothes. Hope this helps anyone who also has this problem with underarm stains and odor residue.

  9. Thanks dr dray ❣️ since I’ve been using the Korean Italian type scrubbing towels with benzoyl and antiperspirant spray, I feel so clean and stink free ❣️ sadly most stores don’t carry antiperspirant alone so it’s getting hard to find

  10. Hi Dr. Dray, I hope you are doing well. I need help to know what to use after what. So I recently brought ordinary products – niacinamide +zinc, alpha arbutin, blue copper aminoisolate, resveratrol 3%+folic 3% ,multiple peptide eye serum, Aha+bha peeling solution. So at present am doing 1-2 time peel per week . After peel I use niacinamid and another days I use niacinamide first and others (copper, alpha arbutin, resveratrol any one of these alternatively ) and I want to use oil with this because in past I have use daily facial oil and my skin liked it but don’t know in which combination I can use oil with these can you suggest. Please

  11. Has anyone tried the product Lume’? I think that’s what it’s called…😅 I’ve been interested but due to extremely sensitive skin I’ve been hesitant. It sounds great but…? Thanks to anyone who responds. 🙂

    1. hi, I haven’t used Lume, but I’m using deodorant from Revive, best natural deodorant on the market! It also helps with sweat

  12. using benzoyl peroxide 5% face wash in my armpits once a week combined with using antiperspirants at the start of the day and before bed, and trimming my armpit hair leaves me smelling like…nothing :D

  13. I use antiperspirant too. Everytime I tried to use a deo I had excema, burning sensation and smelled aweful. I have a very active job and lifestyle and need an antiperspirant.🤭
