    1. moisturizer after, and plenty! it’s usually at the end because it’s thicker and makes it harder for treatments to work

    2. That was the only way I could use tretinoin was with the moisturizer 1st like she says in all her other videos. After a year of using it with no issues, I tried to do it with the tretinoin first, and it destroyed my skin barrier and caused a bad breakout that caused some scarring.

    1. differin is supposed to keep working through the whole day, so it is not necessary to apply in the AM and it would also be very harsh on your skin. I do mine after cleanser and serum and follow it with plenty of moisturizer!!

  1. Does it supposed to break you out at first ? Because i had a really bad break out from it which sucked because I was excited to use it

    1. Yes, she has old videos about that. The first 4 weeks are usually the worst, it’s called purge phase. The results can take around 3 months to start being seen. I combined with benzoyl peroxide and in 6 months my skin completely changed. I had cystic acne all over the both sides of my face. However, I moved abroad and stopped for like 2 months. The acne came back and I had to start all over again. 3rd month now, finally free from the purge phase.

    2. Yeahhhh. Your skin will come off and it burns while even washing your face with water, in my case. Have been using adapalene 0.1% for 3 months. 1st month was all burning and skin coming off phase. It feels fine now. However, my acne hasnt yet gone. Its taking longer than i expected but atleast its working.

  2. I tried adapalene for around 7 months and didn’t notice any difference at all. 2 months ago I switched to tretinoin and I feel like I’m already noticing positive changes which is a good feeling

    1. Same here! I tried adapalene for 5 months and all it did was dry out my skin. 2 months into Tret and I already saw improvements. Now a year into Tret, I’m free of my cystic acne. I just deal with the occasional pimple which I am a-okay with. It’s so fascinating how different skin reacts to products differently

    2. Thinking about switching too. It’s been 3 months and I keep breaking out. 😢 I still have half a tube left so maybe it just takes longer

    3. Exactly. I tried Differin for 1,5 year, but when it comes to acne nothing happened at all. However my fine lines smoothed visibly. 6 months ago I also switched to tretinoin and my face has never looked better.

  3. Dr dray
I have been using Tretinoin for almost 3 years now. I had no issues
My best skin was during .5%
But I have upgraded to .1% and I have been getting rashes on chin area. It is red patches with some white heads that super tiny
I didn’t have this ever before
I suspected it was from sunscreen but I am not exactly sure since I have been using sunscreen anyways and there been minimal change in products.

    1. Put moisturizer or first and also Vaseline on your flaky areas before applying. Don’t keep using if it’s flaking—it will only get worse.

  4. I’ve been using differin for about three and a half months now, and I think it has helped a little but did anyone get full results after using it for longer?

  5. Hello Dr. Dray! Is this good to replace retinol in the evening, or has different purposes? I heard adapalene is more for acne than for anti aging purposes, while retinol works better for the latter purpose. I don’t wanna give up retinol for adapalene if it changes the effects in the long term 🥲

  6. Hey Dr Dray I’ve been using Differin for about 3-4months now and haven’t seen much results with my closed Comedomes.. please help

  7. The first time I tried adapalene I totally messed up my skin barrier but after giving my skin a break and using it only 2-3x a week my skin was the glowiest and clearest it had ever been 🎉
