I think this might work as a foundation for me but not as a dedicated sunscreen. At 65, I find the original Elf a little too moisturizing for me

Thatās the problem with tinted sunscreens, particularly mineral. They look good if used as makeup but awful if used in a quantity that gives the spf. Oh wellā¦.

As a guy, I like mineral sunscreens. Isdin untinted is my favorite, and it can initially have a bit of a white cast but it blends out well and becomes less noticeable after about 15 minutes
I love the Eucerin Hydrating Cleansing Gel- super gentle on my dry, sensitive skin, but effective.
To be fair, Iād never apply that much tinted sunscreen. Personally, I use them as a replacement for foundation and use sunscreen underneath. Of course itās going to look streaky if you just glop it on.
I get that people are saying itās makeup with sunscreen but it is advertised as just sunscreen with a tint. Glad I did not purchase because I would have been dissatisfied too. I ordered the first air beauty sunscreen and have been loving it.
I just checked the brands instagram, and they are responding to comments, telling people it is meant to be an all over sunscreen, and that you don’t need a separate sunscreen when using their product.
I ADORE Ilia’s serum tinted SPF. I know it’s expensive but it’s a bit cheaper than my beloved Colorscience. I tried Merit and it seemed a bit drying to me.
I use 2 different tinted, mineral sunscreens; CeraVe and Eucerin. Both blend well on my skin without streaking. I agree that a tinted sunscreen/moisturizer shouldn’t be that much work to use.
For those that are tussling with Dr Dray in the comments on whether or not this is a sunscreen, have you read the description of the product on their site? Itās a sunscreen. They say to use it as the last step in your skincare routine. That is misleading if itās supposed to be a sunscreen but you canāt apply it like one without it looking cakey. If it is supposed to be a tinted moisturizer they should call it that and give different instructions.
So many comments in Merit socials are calling out this issue. All the content creators they shared videos from were hardly applying anything at all. I love seeing people savvy now and calling out the marketing bullshit. I did order it but I use and love several of their products. Even as I ordered it tho, I knew it wouldnāt be a daily reapply type of spf for me! And frankly anyone w dry or normal skin wonāt like this at all. I have super oily skin and it applied over my face very well. But it was super drying!
My favourite is the EltaMD tinted sunscreen. I get lots of compliments when I wear it and itās a mineral sunscreen. I also like Australian Gold tinted mineral sunscreen.
I am looking for a good tinted sunscreen. Which EltaMD tinted sunscreen do you use?
I tried both of those and they turn orange on my skin and feel like a sweater on my faceš. Even the lightest tints go dark on me. I stick to clear spf most days.
I am going to try this tinted spf by Merit but again, not expecting much and plan to use it over real spf. šIām considering it a topper. But we shall see
@@marsha2703it is the light tinted 100% mineral sunscreen. I notice that itās available on the USA Amazon site. EltaMD UV Daily SPF 40 Tinted Face Sunscreen Face Moisturizer. Itās no longer available to me on the Canadian Amazon site.
Thank you! So tired of tinted sunscreens coming out like this. If itās marketed as sunscreen you should be able to put the necessary amount on without looking crazy. I just used one the other day that was awful.
I wish I had seen this review before purchasing. I love the makeup line too. I thought I would love this due to the description. I thought it was a little thick and powdery too. I love Merit makeup too. I was excited to try this but yet again am disappointed by tinted spf. It did color match well and for me applied evenly and smoothly. But my skin is super oily. I think if I wear this again it will be under a moisturizing spf
Thanks for showing how bad the Merit SPF is. Everyone raved and I was shocked at how awful it looked and what an unpleasant experience it was trying to blend it in. Ugh
That Merit SS has cornstarch high up in the ingredient list. No wonder itās streaky! I used that in high school to turn my hair gray when I was Annie Oakley in a high school play. I bet that ss is hard to wash off too!
I watched the videos on the Sephora app of how to apply the Merit tinted sunscreen. They put very little on and applied it with a brush. Therefore, not much sunscreen to protect your skin.
