oh my god I swearrr!! My dermatologist just put me on Accutane WITHOUT even telling me what it is. He only asked me if I have any medical conditions or if I’m married/ planning to get married in the near future (for the chances of getting pregnant) But thankfully I know much about accutane and will be careful and mentally ready for the side effects but it just scares me to know how so many dermats must be doing the same to poor women who don’t know anything about this serious drug.
This woman is a god send. So many dermatologists don’t give *ANY* information and just throw stuff at you.

It’s Day 1 of a long run working from home due to the COVID-19 crisis. As horrific as the news is, what better time to begin a Differin regimen? Thank you, Dr. Dray. I AM SO GRATEFUL! I’ve not been following these steps AT ALL. I had no idea that you can moisturise before applying differing!!! No wonder my skin has been so irritated. You definitely gave me hope in differin again. I was so close to giving up with it😭

Been using her technique almost to a T for 2 weeks now (differin gel used every other night) and i’ve seen significant improvement in my skin. I still get pimples but when I do they usually go away within a day. At first I was just using the same hydrating cleanser she used at night in the morning too but I finally just got the oil free acne wash so I have now started using that in the morning instead. I want to work my way up to using the differing gel every night but I think I will wait for the month mark to start doing so since it has been working so well thus far with every other night. I’m kicking myself that I didn’t try this sooner and this channel has taught me so much about skincare and acne! I feel so stupid for using harsh exfoliating face washes for years that probably worsened my acne :( But glad I am now on the right track.
This video saved my 52 year old skin! I’m at the larger pores (no acne) stage, but without this video I wouldn’t of had the confidence to try Differin. Hi Dr. Dray! Thank you for the detailed video! I’ve been using this for over a month now and I literally can’t see a difference. I’ve followed your routine and my skin isn’t dry at all! Thank you! But in terms of acne… I’ve never had a bad breakout in my life… I was using the duac gel before and it was amazing, but stopped working after 8 months and since then I’ve been having cystic acne 😭
I’m using adapalene for two months, but there are no changes, a week ago I started combining it with benzoyl peroxide, my skin has become more dry, but acne is still coming out.
So glad I watch your videos before doing anything skin related! The doctor recommended the differin + benzoyl peroxide combined. Knowing what you reccomend as well as that I have sensitive skin and already have a benzoyl face wash (using on alternating days until sensitivity is minimised) I got the adapalene without bp. Going to start using it tomorrow once I have a good physical sunscreen for the following morning. Fingers crossed.
I just started following you not too long ago. I went and bought the differin and other skin care products you recommended to help fight acne. It had been 3 days I have been using the products that you recommended. I already see a big difference. I been using crave cleanser, panixyl benzoyl wash, cerave pm, hydro boost gel cream and defferin in the evening. Cerave SA cleanser, hydro boost gel cream and cerave am moisturizer in the morning. I already see a big difference in my skin!! THATS JUST IN 3 days! Thank you Dr. Dray!!!
1. Wash face with mild cleanser
2. Apply moisturizer to damp skin
3. allow skin to dry
4. Apply a greasy ointment to corners of mouth, eyes, nose to build a barrier
5. Apply a very small amount of adapaline using dotting method
Start slow, every other day or 1-2x a week for first few weeks
Do not combine with salicylic acid cleansers but can be used the next morning
SUNSCREEN
@seungwanislove i suggest not to. Differin is already really harsh and will make your skin more irritated. Dr Dray does mention to stop other treatments when you’re starting retinoid products cause retinoid could do basically everything that other products could so that’s why. And yah, on days that you don’t use differin, just cleanser and moisturizer is enough, and sunscreen in the morning!
@rideonahorse you do need to be careful with cleansing oil if you have ance prone skin. Your skin might not like the specific type of oil that they used to formulate the product. You also have to make sure you emulsify it well and wash it off well with a cleanser. These factors might cause you to get more breakouts if overlooked. I alternate cleansing oil and micellar water. I have acne prone skin and when I have a lot of breakouts, my skin likes micellar water better (I use the blue waterproof garnier micellar water). The gist of double cleansing is to make sure the first product can take away all the sunscreen/ makeup (which could be cleansing oil, micellar water, oil based makeup remover) since cleanser alone won’t really be able to do so.
adapelene is not here in my country without prescription, i tries everything to reduce my oil production even i went to derma but he didn’t give any medicine for oil production he said its just normal with this age, he only gave face wash and clindamycin and nicotinamide. will retinoid reduce oil production?

@Manish Singh honestly you shouldn’t, avoid any irritating ingredients when using Adapalene/retinol

I started using Differin after watching Dr Dray. The first week or two my skin felt a bit dry and red, not that many breakouts though. I had been scared of “the purge” but I didn’t get more acne than usual. Now, my skin is basically always clear, really changed my life. Thanks Dr Dray!

@damn son I would say I had moderate acne. Almost exclusively closed comedones, so like the small (red!) surface level kind of pimples, not the deep cystic ones. Mostly around my mouth chin and nose. I started differin (adapalene) at 26. I would also be interested in trying tretinoin, just have to figure out how I would get a prescription.
