Shaving your face isn't just for men! In fact, it could be the key to get smooth, glowing skin. But we're not talking about using a regular razor, we're talking about a treatment called dermaplaning where an aesthetician uses a scalpel to shave away dead skin and hair. Sharzad and Susan went to Los Angeles aesthetician Kerry Benjamin to try it for themselves. Watch the video to see the process!

    1. those blades are on Amazon for $12! Do not use a regular shaver because the second blade causes the fine hairs to curl and the result will be ingrowns and a terrible break out. I’ve tried it on my self at home and it was a wonderful result…not as fancy but who’s got 💰 like that?

    2. +Erika Morris what do u use to regularly shave your legs or underarms? So u avoid using the razors with two blades?

  1. ‘I can’t believe people don’t dermaplane more’

at that price tag i can definitely believe it

  2. That hair and skin is on your face because it’s meant to be. Removing your peach fuzz and top layer of skin leaves your face super shiny and raw as you can see the ladies are at the end of the video. Gentle weekly exfoliation and daily cleansing/moisturising are all your skin really needs to look good, don’t buy into scams like this.

    1. Davida Braxton not a scam! Your skin cycles every 28 days! Please do your research and educate yourself before commenting

    2. Hair by your genitals and under arm should be removed aleast 1 a month. That’s where we stink the most , hair makes it worse

    3. it’s definitely not a scam 😂 the hair on your face is vellus hair and it can clog your pores and cause acne. it’s better to get it removed + exfoliating won’t do the same thing, dermaplaning removes layers of dead skin cells, doing this helps product penetrate deeper in your skin therefore working better

  3. so she did dermaplaning, microderm, And then a chem peel….thats like triple exfoliation. I’m getting my license in Colorado and it’s illegal to even double exfoliate a client.

    1. Paco’s Mummy male baldness is to do with the hair follicles dying so that no hair is produced, it has nothing to do with shaving – your ‘logic’ makes no sense whatsoever.

    2. @DuFe Yea she’s recommended bc she’s a local and convenient. However everyone’s skin is different yet the same. Doesn’t matter where you are from. Sure, the climate and environment can affect it but everyone’s skin has the same layers etc.

    3. @Shae

True, first you peel the skin then you putting on acid on that exposed skin and then microdermation. Ouch the poor skin.

  4. This is so dumb lmao. I do the same thing with an eyebrow shaping razor and I get 3 for $3 and over exfoliating your face is actually pretty harmful.

    1. BlueEyedRedhead You can by them from Daiso stores and they very sharp blades so you must be careful. It is a pink long blade like the barbers use or they have little blades for areas like for your eyebrows and lip. The brand is Kai it is used in the healthcare setting.

    2. I know I’m late but here we go: I used to shave my face twice a week. No pimples, just glowing, smooth skin. I don’t do it twice anymore because I am lazy now. That’s why I only do it once a week now.

  5. I’ve been doing this forever!! Shaving my entire face that is (except my beard).. only one person which was a MUA teacher at Paul Mitchell the School has ever asked me if I shaved my face and it’s only cause she does it herself. I started doing it cause I found it leaves my face soo much smoother I LOVE IT!

  6. I shave my face and I swear by it.and since I started using bubble mask too I am seeing a huge difference! Makeup apples like a dream and I have had little no break outs. Not even the hormonal kind that can happen monthly. You can you a standard shaver to start, I use a straight eyebrow razor

    1. @Angelica C I’m pretty sure I see the same results doing it myself. Isn’t that why she’s developing a razor for home use?

  7. I’ve been dermaplaning myself for a while now about once a week. I actually use a straight blade razor, which is pretty similar to a scalpel. I love it, there are so many benefits, but the number one benefit that I love is the way your foundation will look after (especially powder!) with all that tiny peach fuzz on your face, adding powder foundation to that makes the peach fuzz so visible! Not to mention the exfoliating and antiaging benefits! And your hair will not grow back thicker or darker this is a myth! The reason people think this is because your hair naturally tapers off and when you shave it do you create that blunt cut so when it grows back and it seems to be thicker but it is not!

  8. I looooove this!! Recently came back from Japan and they use open razors (similar to the scalpel) to shave their faces! No wonder they all have such beautiful flawless skin!

  9. Going in for my first dermaplane treatment today…thanks for this video! I had zero idea what to expect!

  10. Have been dermaplaning/shaving my hair regularly for the past few years, and it really does make a huge difference when applying makeup. It’s much less cakey and I need way less product to get a smooth application. And it’s really easy to do at home as well.

  11. I’m definitely interested in learning this modality. I’m a NYS Licensed Esthetician and looking to further my knowledge. Looking to find a class on this in my area. Thank you for the demo and the humor. You two are great !

  12. I do it at home once every month and it helps me so much my skin feels like baby skin everytime! And makeup looks 100 times better too!

  13. The best advice I got: *leave it alone* from my hair free grandma. I’m done with hair removal at this point, tried everything except laser hair removal.

Threading and epilating are my methods of choice, since I’m _hairy_ it gets annoying and repetitive but threading does the job. I haven’t used an epilator since summer. When I can afford laser hair removal I’ll get it done.

  14. I watched this video when it came out years ago. It got me inspired to finally enroll myself into esthetician school thanks to mixed makeup videos!
Ive been shaving my face and it makes a huge difference in my skin
