  1. Personally I know it does. I shave my face regularly so I’m very aware of it’s growth and when I started using Tret, I noticed immediately how much quicker it seemed to grow back. Noticed more peach fuzz in other areas I put it too.

  2. Hi Dr.Dray!! I was hoping you could make a video focusing on OTC supplements/pills and vitamins for helping to clear your skin from the inside out? I would love to hear your opinions and suggestions on different products and brands! As well as your research on it!

    1. Her response has been that that’s not really possible. Acne, for example, is a skin disease that needs to be treated. Drinking water and supplements is rarely, if ever, going to do much.

  3. I have been taking a low dose monoxidil pill prescribed by my primary care doctor. It’s been about 9 months and what I have noticed is that the hair overall is healthier. Which might be because the monoxidil pill taken in pill form is supposed to lower blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels. More blood flow can be good for the scalp. Have I gotten more regrowth? I have gotten more baby hairs in those areas of hair loss but so far not a lot. I also have fine hairs on my face and body now.😆 But I shave my face and I get some benefits from exfoliation so in my book it’s win win! Every person’s hair loss cause is specific to that person. Both my parents had a lot of hair loss as they aged. I always knew it was going to be genetic for me. I am not ashamed to say that I use light weight hair toppers to compensate. Thank you Dr Dray for always speaking truth to all of us! 🤗

  4. I appreciate you making well researched videos about the hair and scalp. I am a hair stylist and sometimes there are inadequate resources for hair loss treatments. Everything is marketing and it’s hard to guide my clients. I will share this video with them!

    2. Hey guys, do y’all whether it’s possible to relax/curling my hair.. but without relaxing/curling my hair?

      This is what I mean:

If I for example apply relaxer to my hair and of course wash it off, the texture and appearance of my hair is altered..
But here’s the most important thing—that particular texture or look is permanent, there’s nothing I can do to return my hair back to normal say within even the next few days.

And I don’t want that, like can’t I rock a straight hair this week, and A jheri curl the next?
Isn’t there a way to achieve the best of both worlds—alterin my hair texture but keeping hair freedom— it’s only temporary, I can just like rinse whatever I applied off and tada! I have my hair as it was prior to application.

What I’m describing is like a styling iron/hot comb .. or even closer, a styling cream

But now, I need a “styling cream” that that give me temporary jheri curls, I can still have my normal hair whenever I want, even if it’d be a few days ?
      I have nappy hair btw

Does such exist? If so, tell me please

  5. I have been using Tretinoin for the past year and I have such a huge increase of facial hair growth. It’s also helped smooth out my texture 👍 so I don’t mind the extra hair that I have to tweeze 😂

    1. It’s actually the opposite in my case. My facial hair are pretty much non existent now after 8 years of Tretnoin. I barely thread my eye brows or upper lips anymore 😂 another perk of Tretnoin alongside smoother, younger skin.

    2. It increased the amount of facial hair for me as well. It’s made such nice improvements in the texture & hyperpigmentation on my face though that I also don’t mind plucking the extra hair but I had been wondering if it was just me 😂

    3. This is fascinating Dr. Dray please keep us up to date with any new knowledge. Thank you love from Oz.❤

  6. I’ve been using tretinoin 0,05% for 2,5 years and my eyebrows got more defined and thicker❤so happy❤ my skin transformed to my twenties also🙏🏻🙏🏻

  7. This topic is so interesting to me because while I’ve never used prescription retinoids, I have anecdotally noticed that my front hairline has gotten a bit thicker and more even since I started using over the counter retinol. My hair is very fine and even more so around my hairline so it’s very fragile and I’ve usually had a kind of thin and uneven hairline because of it my whole life, so I’ve started purposefully applying my retinol serum right up into my hairline ever since I noticed this effect, so it’s cool to see there may be some evidence at least when it comes to the stronger forms that maybe I’m not totally imagining it, though I’m sure it’s a much milder benefit I’m getting

  8. Soo grateful for this woman sharing all this knowledge and data!!! Dr. Dray is changing people lives for the better <3

  10. I’ve been using tretinoin on and off for a few years and I always notice that when I’m consistent with it my eyelashes look noticeably longer, and my eyebrows look bushier

  11. This was very interesting! Would have never thought that Tretinoin could affect hair growth. Always learning something new from you. Thanks, as always, for all you do. Happy Tuesday, Dr Dray! Hope you have a tranquil evening. 💟

  12. That’s really interesting. I have too much hair so I won’t be using my tretinoin on my hair but I absolutely love it for my face. It works like nothing else and I don’t have sensitive skin so I never get any of the typical redness or peeling that most people notice which is good.

  13. I’m so happy to hear you address this topic. I’ve been using tretinoin once a day at night for right at a year now and about 6 to 8 months in noticed that the hair on the outer edge of my eyebrows was starting to fill in. I have hypothyroidism and those edges started thinning before I was diagnosed 10 years ago. I’ve been on the same dosage of thyroid medicine every since my diagnosis. Next I started to notice that my hair edges were starting to fill back in. Tretinoin I figured must have been the reason so I started occasionally dabbing a little in my extreme sparse (one side was bald) cul-de-sacs and they are started filling in also. What happened with those people in the study once they stopped using the tretinoin did they loose the hair they’d grown?

  14. I had the opposite reaction. I experienced telogen effluvium from retinol and retin A. I had diffuse hair shedding that started 3 months after tretinoin use.

I wish there were studies done on why some people have this experience.

  15. I actually identify myself as a gerbil.
On a serious note: my brother has been taking isotretinoin (a veeeery low dose) for years now (prescribed by his derm), to help him with hair loss. I’ve always thought that it worked due to the drying effect isotretinoin has on the sebum glands, but after watching this video I now believe that there must be something else going on

  16. this honestly makes a lot of sense. as a woman, I’ve noticed more frequent facial hair growth I’ve had to tweeze off in my last year of using tret- not that I mind or saying it’s completely for that reason but super interesting!

  17. I dermaroll and use minoxidil as well. The retinoid really helps prevent acne and pores clogging up, my hair is definitely growing more consistently

  18. I’ve been on tretinoin for a few months now and I have definitely noticed my peach fuzz growing back a lot faster! I shave my face every 2 weeks now!

  19. I’ve been using topical tretinoin for about a year and I definitely have an increase in hair growth on my jawline. I’ve always had a little and it’s not much more, but I’ve been plucking them more often. They’re thicker too.
