  1. That’s one way they used to keep their hair clean but really not necessary at all today. Thanks for the advice as always.

    1. And spread the sebum all the way down the shaft in times when washing was not as common as it is today. My mother used a lot of talcum powder when she was young as a dry shampoo.

  2. This is more a misunderstanding than a myth. That 100 brushes a day thing comes from the era of dry cleaning your hair with boar bristle brushes. Back then, that was how you cleaned your hair because shampooing was a very very rare thing. This was also the era where “brushing the oils from your scalp to condition your hair” was also true.

If you wet clean your hair like using shampoo, or if you’re using a brush that isn’t specifically made of boar bristles, excessive brushing is generally bad for your hair.

  3. I thought using a boar’s hair brush from underneath helps distribute the natural oils throughout the hair and thereby creating softer hair. 🤔

  4. Do you not comb out tangles after a shower or do you wait to fully dry? My hair is down to my waist, I have to detangle.

  5. In movies or TV when they brushed, it wasn’t done physically aggressively Maybe 100 times is “aggressive,” but your hair gets silkier as it’s brushed “White” hair

  6. It’ s not about brushing 🤦🏻‍♀️gentle or agressively. *IT’ S ABOUT COMBING ONLY THE SCALP SURFACE WITH 100% PRE-DETANGLED HAIR TO STIMULATE CIRCULATION* with the right rounded tool until you can feel this lovely tingly relaxing sensation of bloodstream. Calf length all my life. 48 yo and not a single white hair.

  7. My hair definitely looks worse after brushing. Wide tooth comb is ok it doesn’t damage and break my hairs but makes it frizzy. Fingers have worked the best for years!!!

  8. Actually, a gentle boat bristle is great for your hair and scalp. It helps distribute oils from the scalp to the hair and also stimulates the scalp for growth.

  9. Nice to know! I have question on a different subject if I may. What would you recommend using after derma rolling for best results? Or do you even recommend doing it at all? 🤔

  10. Hi dr. Dray. Right. I heard that one already. But I wonder, you just tied up your hair while it was still wet if I’m not mistaken, some people say that is not good either.

  11. Yes when using a modern synthetic brush but a natural bore bristle brush does wonders for the health of hair.l have been using a bore bristle brush and less washing every night for about 3month now and my hair is definitely not as dry as it used to be.

  12. If you see antique brushes for sale you’ll notice they were very soft. Women brushed their hair 100 times to help keep it clean. At the time shampoo had not been invented, and they had to find other ways to keep their hair clean. But certainly it doesn’t make any sense today.
