  2. Hyperpigmentation is an inflammatory response by your melanocytes. Heat can trigger that inflammatory process. It’s literally the skin trying to protect itself from the heat. The Dr is right, if you are prone to hyperpigmentation and melasma avoid heated tools, sauna and face steamers. Truly, nobody should be putting direct heat like this on their faces. I cannot think of ANY benefits. It’s such a gimmicky tool.
