It is great and big of you to give these indie brands a shoutout; they are, after all, your competitors. It shows where your brand’s “state of mind” is at. It is an excellent reminder for us all. We are our own competition. If someone else did a fantastic job, acknowledge them. There’s plenty to go around.

Do you have any thoughts on Ameon Skin? Or Experiment Beauty (super saturated barrier serum)? I saw James Welsh mention them in a video recently and my interest is piqued 😊
omg that sireni overnight treatment is soooooo amazing. I am dark skinned and I bought like 5 of them after trying it for the first time. Overtime, it has really helped even out my skin tone and gives me a beautiful glow! I stand by that product 100%!!!
I really like that you did a video on your favorite products of the year from Indie brands. If they don’t have the ability to do bigger campaigns and pay for influencers to market their products then your video is helpful. I really like how you described the jelly to gel cleanser from Krave Beauty. All of the products sound good though. But I do have questions. Recently I’ve noticed that Gold Bond has come out with a retinol “lotion” for face and body. I haven’t been able to find the percentage of retinol that’s used. But I have seen where it has urea, shea butter, jojoba oil and squalene. It also lists caramel as an ingredient which I’m not sure if it is for the scent? Or if there are actual benefits in using caramel on the skin that I don’t know about? My question is will there be a retinol product for the body released from Naturium? I realize that you can use any face product on the body as well. But as someone that has lost a lot of weight and will be losing more. I’m wanting to do my best in taking good care of the skin on my face and body during this process and for here on out. So I’m really interested in applying the same products that I use on my face for my body as well.

When I learned that retinaldehyde react faster (conversion process) and it is less irritating for sensitive skin 2.5 years ago, I never once purchased a retinol product. Mahalo for mentioning a product with this great ingredient 🌈🌺🤙🏼

Products sound great but far more expensive that I’m comfortable is spending.
OMG the Cipher Balm has incredible ingredients! Retinal, PAD, salicylic acid, madecassoside, ceramides, panthenol… So perfect for oily acne-prone skin. So sad that it’s so insanely expensive!!!
It’s expensive but honestly, these are expensive ingredients so it’s justified to me. It’s not like spending a ton on a hyaluronic acid serum.

I think, in order for a lot of Indie brands to survive, is innovation. I’ve noticed that many Indie brands die off once they just start copying others and stop being innovative. Indie brands normally don’t have the following the bigger brands do (in part, because exposure, $$$ for ads and R&D, etc etc). So unfortunately, innovation is what I think the key is to survive until you’re at a comfortable place where you can balance both keeping those consistently good formulated products and releasing more experimental/innovative stuff.
The big brands don’t typically come out with anything truly innovative. They’re all doing the same stuff, usually.
Tbh, if I want to seek something out that is more innovative/on the cutting edge of skincare, I’ll typically go seek indie brands.
