    1. It also tastes gross to me. I can enjoy maybe half of a nice Japanese beer, but wouldn’t enjoy finishing a whole one.

  1. 35 yo guy here ! I was “forced” to quit alcohol 5 years ago and my skin effectively became resplendent ! I knew alcohol was bad for skin but I minimized it by using daily moisturizers and luxury serums!

  2. My former husband gave up our family for alcohol. His IQ is 145, brilliant, attractive man. Decorated fighter pilot. (Vietnam). Airline pilot. Wrote all the training syllabus for his aircraft…was a line check airman, and very accomplished. He should be out on the golf course with his retired pilot friends…. but now he’s in an assisted living facility with wet brain. Soooo sad. Our daughters have been so hurt by this. Don’t drink! The alcoholic destroys more than him/herself…the family and friends are deeply hurt FOREVER by this.

    1. I see that you are proud of your husband’s accomplishments. That is great, you give him that credit. I hope everything gets better, it sounds like you are very logical and are a strong support to your daughters.

    2. Mine lost to alcoholism 4 years ago at age 65, right as we entered retirement and the “golden years”. The sweetest and dearest man ever. I’m alone now and miss him every day.

    3. Blame his war service for the dependence on alcohol. War is hell even for those who think that they had a “good” war and Vietnam is no longer considered to be a good war. My boss saw action in Vietnam and it killed him decades later after ruining his health from exposure to defoliants and other chemicals. He did not have problems with alcohol, but he still died too young.

  3. I’m going to stop. I’ve been lying to myself for months, thinking it’s ok to have one or two drinks at night. This video helped me to make up my mind. Thank you.

Buckle up baby! You about to expand!!!

  4. Anyone who wants to quit or cut down on alcohol, you have my encouragement! I am cheering for you, and I hope quitting helps you as much as it helped me.

  5. Thank you Dr. Dray for this video. I am glad to know there is a trend to not drink.

At 42, my brother died in his sleep due to alcoholism. He was a functional alcoholic who drank alone and it tore his family apart. He drank due to the grief he had of our dad’s passing when we were young.

I want to emphasize the importance of seeking mental health therapy to those that seek out alcohol to deal with their problems.

  6. Im about 60 days sober, I thought on Fridays I really needed it to drown the dam week. But I have managed to be ok without it!

  7. was never much of a drinker but in the last 6 months, i just decided there was no reason to drink at all!

    1. I came to that conclusion too. I could take it or leave it.
I barely drank, maybe one or two every few months or so.
I decided since I could care less about it, why have it at all. So I don’t and will never again.
Why do something I find zero benefits in.
15 months and haven’t missed it one bit.

  8. During Covid my husband and I decided the literature was definitively finding that any alcohol consumption is toxic for humans. We stopped, our three adult children stopped, no alcohol. It’s been very beneficial for all of our health.

    1. Sorry, I was using it as a qualifier- his research is in substance abuse, so I thought it would be helpful to note that our choice came after looking at the research findings. I am a math teacher, so, unless I was posting about the money we were saving not buying alcohol, my profession did not play a part. I do see your point, that stating my husband’s profession may make my post look inflated, and have edited my response.

  9. 12 years sober best thing I ever did. To all of you begining this incredible journey keep coming 😘

  10. sober since Sept, 2022! Everything became clearer- I was able to kick toxic people out of my life then, too. No crutches to ‘help’ me deal with them!

  11. Quit drinking alcohol at 30- and now at 60, I’ve never regretted it or miss it.
My favorite is the “no sugar” brigade who drink a box of wine every few days 🥴
