My father and his siblings had gout. This is helpful for me to know what signs and symptoms to look for.
Last year I woke up with the painful symptoms of gout in my left foot. No family history of it or the bad diet/alcohol. It turned out to be a nasty side effect of the blood pressure med I had been taking. My doctor immediately switched my med and the symptoms went away, thankfully. It was kind of scary to wake up with sudden onset of pain to the point where I could barely walk. If this happens, see your doctor asap to get it under control.
I had gout once about 10 years ago. It was my HBP medicine. I don’t drink. I do eat Keto for the last four years with no gout. My doctor was right the medicine he changed it right away.
I have it. My attacks were rare, but horrible. Then I heard about the research about Glycine and gout. Now I take the supplement twice a day and I haven’t had a single attack in over a year and a half.

Very timely video–I am in the middle of a gout episode as we speak! Both of my parents had gout–back in those days, my dad was a hunter so we ate alot of game. But, that was a long time ago.
I am 71 now, am a liver transplant recipient & have bad kidneys. I’d been to my kidney doc 3 weeks ago & she told me my uric acid was high. I already take Allopurinol & had never had a gout attack. Well, about 10 days later I experienced my first (& hopefully last) attack! My left big toe became so inflamed & I couldn’t even stand the bedsheets to touch it! Misery! I called my kidney doc, who told me to call my PCP, who told me to call my endocrinologist…. By that time the attack had passed (about a week). When you’re a transplant patient, no one really wants to treat you & you get passed around alot. JUST THE OPPISITE OF WHAT WE NEED!

I reduce carbs perticularly rice and bread to loose weight, after sometime i observed my gout pain has disappeared. Now i am again taking wheat products and mild pain again appeared. its so interesting that my gout attack started in my early 30s and i am a women.
My late husband, who was a dialysis patient, had this twice. Extremely painful and he was hospitalized both times. He was a pretty tough guy and he said the pain was some of the worst he had ever experienced. Appreciate you speaking about this. My heart goes out to anyone suffering with it. Apparently just taking vitamin C can assist in preventing gout coming back but not much if you currently have it. Thought I should throw it out there for people since it’s so cheap and simple.
