This Simple Ingredient Hydrates Skin DEEPLY

Dermatologist Dr. Dray explains why vegetable glycerin is such a simple and effective ingredient to incorporate into a skincare routine. Glycerin is a powerful humectant that helps draw water into the skin, providing deep, long-lasting hydration.

In this YouTube Short, Dr. Dray explains how glycerin can help reduce water loss from the skin at higher concentrations and why well-hydrated skin can look smoother and more plump. Improved hydration can also temporarily diminish the appearance of fine lines, making glycerin a simple option for softer, smoother-looking skin.

    1. Glycerin has healed my skin barrier. Mine was damaged from severe hormonal disruption. I tried Vpj but it doesn’t absorb as well as glycerin and only seems ( for me at least ) to very temporarily alleviate dry skin surfaces. I only apply glycerin ONCE and it plumps and hydrates all day. No need to reapply.

    2. I tried vaseline for a few days and man going to bed with that stuff on I just couldn’t do it, it feels so gross

    3. @DyLemmaOG it doesn’t absorb quickly. It takes quite a while before bed for it to absorb and not get on a pillowcase. Also don’t apply too much. It’s for those reasons I prefer glycerin; it actually absorbs and does it quickly. It also penetrates the skin better and hydrates on a deeper level. It’s inexpensive as well.

  1. So could this be used as a standalone moisturizer without any other creams or lotions? That would save so much money.

    1. I use it as a transition moisturizer after I shower and before I do my skincare routine. My post shower routine is long but I don’t want my face to be unmoisturized that whole time. So on soaking wet skin, I apply glycerin to my face, neck, chest, and hands. Then I pat more water on top.

  2. I’ve been using this ever since you suggested it & I LOVE how plumped my skin looks in the morning. It really is a jewel ❤

  3. I bought it when you first suggested it here, and I am using it all over my body, with a little bit of a body cream, works like charm.
    Thank you ❤

  4. Real question: So If I want to gently exfoliate, should I exfoliate first, and then apply a product with glycerin or glycerin by itself? So the exfoliated skin will be immediately moisturized?

  5. This changed my life. I use it everyday all over my body. It’s hydrating like nothing else and also so softening! Even my feet are soft now. Single-handedly the best thing I’ve ever done for my skin and insanely underrated.

  6. When my knuckles are dry, bleeding and nothing helps, I apply serums, prequel echoing urea cream glycerine and a Vaseline and it heals my hand after a few days.

  7. Glycerin and Rosewater was great, great grandma’s beauty essential but was always diluted because in high concentrations (20-30%) was thought to actually draw moisture from the deeper layers.

  8. I use this as part of my pre-workout. It draws in water to blood vessels and muscle cells, helps with vascularity, pumps, stamina and delays fatigue.

  9. Been using this for years. An incredible value. I dilute it with a little water to reduce stickiness. Game changer for dry legs, minimizes the look of sun damage on my shoulders, chest and forearms. Very effective, takes only a small bit, lasts forever. ❤
