you can. but lyme disease and other pathologies developed as the result of the tick bite aren’t gna resolve themselves w dousing the wound w EtOH, unfortunately. especially the depth of the stringer insertion and surface tension of a tiny hole, i don’t think any liquid can actually move about in meaningful way to denature or kill microbes/invasive molecules

@@lauren8627 lidocaine isn’t an antiseptic, so it doesn’t do anything against infection, only pain management.
and the problem of a ‘deep tiny hole and surface tension’ is still the same regardless of weather it’s alcohol or another analgesic.
in thr lab in order to get liquids through tiny holes (we filter everything in the lab) we use vacuum to push the liquid through the sieves, because surface tension of liquids could prevent them from passing through.
w insect stingers you want your antiseptic to be deposited in the same tiny hole that the insect itself created so you can eliminate any contamination locally, instead of through the bloodstream

I have a friend who puts nail polish on the tick & waits a few seconds. She then takes a tissue & wipes it away. I prefer tweezers.
I’m so curious, what is the nail polish supposed to do??
Sorry, don’t know. She recently passed so I can’t ask her. She swore it worked every time.

My regular physician was away so I had to see the assistant. She didn’t agree with my assessment that a tick’s head was still under my skin. But did put me on a course of antibiotics just in case. That was 2 years ago. I can still feel a little bump in that spot. Do you think I’m outta the woods??

Tick bites can stay around for months or years if it was latched on awhile. I have a bump under my arm where one got me months ago and I got all the tick out.

No counter clock wise with soap with your choice of cloth and clean area afterwards with alcohol. Never pull out may leave head behind cause more of a problem.

their bite strength is insane. I found a tick on my sister and used the tweezer to remove it. I was pulling and pulling and she was gritting her teeth bc the tick was on her neck and the tick was literally by this point 1” away from her neck but still clamped onto her skin before it finally let go.
I was worried I’d taken a piece of her skin with it, but she turned out fine thankfully. We’re still monitoring her in case she doesn’t feel well though. They’re nasty bugs!

In Australia the government says you should freeze it with an ether spray which apparently reduces the risk of anaphalaxis occuring, or not remove it at all until you’re with a doctor if you are allergic. So wild how different countries are. There’s a 2022 document that basically screams at the reader to NOT in big red letters remove it with tweezers.
