Sorry to post twice, I just really want you to see my SUGGESTIONS FOR CONTENT –> Can you do some segments on the following:
+ ring worm (transmissible when trying on clothing, hats and shoes? I have contracted ringworm 3 too many times this way)
+ skin allergies from not washing clothes prior to first wear (I have developed skin rashes when I wear new items that have not been washed first)
+ tide laundry detergent (I get a skin rash whenever I use tide – especially when my socks have been washed with tide)
+ moles and skin cancer (I have skin cancer in my family, and I’d like to better be able to identify when I should go to a dermatologist for a checkup (I have had too many dermatologists laugh literally in my face for bringing my concerns up prematurely)
+ healing skin wounds (I severed a finger and wondered why the skin wouldn’t grow back normally, and I also burn myself frequently while cooking – I have ADHD – and I never know how to best treat my burns at home, or how to tell if there is an infection, etc.)
+easily bruised skin (lately, I have been getting a bumch of bruises on the back of my legs simply from sitting in a chair – people are beginning to ask me what’s wrong)
+ hyperhidrosis (I have this – I am wondering about the cancer risks associated with products that stop sweating from occurring)
@@thebirdsnextdoorI have videos on all of this
I am in my late 60’s and have very oily skin. It has a good side though, HARDLY ANY WRINKLES. Have never found any creams etc that help clear it up. I still get pimples and break outs now. I have only ever used cover girl powder and noxema or dove soap to wash my face. I have used these products ONLY since I was a teenager. If I tried other products my face would break out in pimples and boils. I have also been using biacna for years for breakouts. The biacna has prevented me from getting wrinkles as well but the sagging is still there. People can see I am older but say I don’t look as old as I am. So thank you oily skin. 😊
Good for u Miss 😭 but mine’s gave me years of cysts, scars and pus and that wasn’t enough now I have wrinkles coming…… for my skin is so dry because of all these acne treatments you have NO idea and shook I’m not even 30 yet I’m already getting Botox cuz situation is critical trust me
I’m so sorry to hear that. I only mentioned what has worked for me for 50 years. I hope you find the help for you. ❤🙏@@kha0s616
Hahaha I’m 43 years old now and I also have oily skin. I remember growing up during puberty I had very low self esteem because my face broke out all the time and it was always covered in pimples that I often got ridiculed/teased by my school mates. But now, I realize my oily skin helps to keep wrinkles at bay and it actually helps me looking younger than my age. When my peers spend lots of money on all kinds of face creams and botox/filler to achieve the fountain of youth, my oily skin actually helps me with that naturally. Proud to say that I’ve never had any procedures done on my face (and I’m not planning to). Sure it can get annoying when we get adult acnes (I usually get acne when I put on too many products on my face esp. if they’re too thick/heavy), not because of the acne itself but because of the potential risks of scars or hyperpigmentation/discoloration it can leave behind that we know could take forever to heal. 😭 That’s the negative aspect I dislike about having oily skin. But at least I don’t need to spend too much money on various skincare products/procedures. A nice sunscreen, a light moisturizer, and (as of now) tretinoin should suffice (heck sometimes when I use sunscreen, I would skip my moisturizer altogether because my sunscreen is already moisturizing enough for my skin). For oily skin, the motto I live by is “less is more” so you don’t need to put on too many products on your face/skin. Keep your routine to the most minimum/basic one (e.g. washing – moisturizer and/or sunscreen).
I like these debunking videos. Keep up the goodwork.
I used to have combination skin up until my late 30’s when I became perimenopausal. Now I am more dry to normal and had to change my skincare routine. Thank you for another informative video ❤
OMG, the products that were pushed on my teenage generation in the 70’s were horrible! I had very oily skin as a teen. The viral product then was Cuticura soap. We thought we were doing the right thing because it stopped our face of the oil for a short time. What we did not find out until later is that stripping your facial skin of oil actually increased the amount of oil on the skin as a reaction to it being parched., resulting in a vicious cycle. We did not have any oil free moisturizers in those days, nor were we taught that oil on your skin was NOT a moisturizer.
I love your “blinded by the light” song reference. I love watching your videos, so real and informative.
enjoy your week ahead everyone xo
Great info!
Would you recommend rinsing the face with water and reapply sunscreen and moisturizer as well during the day? Or is there a limit to how much we should be rinsing the face?
An episode on scalp care to minimize hair fall please! Thank you 🙂
Try doing a search, dr dray scalp or dr dray hair loss, for videos that might help.
One myth I used to hear was that oily skin doesn’t need moisturizer. As someone who suffers with oily and acne prone skin it was taught that I should punish my skin for being how it is instead of taking care of it. Now that I’m older I don’t really care to mattify my skin and instead focus on keeping it healthy and not irritated.
Yes!!! Major myth!
This might be true depending on where you live. If you have oily skin and you live in a cold climate or if you spend the majority of your time inside an air-conditioned room/building where the air is always cool and dry, then you might need to moisturize your skin. Make sure you choose a fast-absorbing lightweight moisturizer e.g. gel or gel-cream type that wouldn’t feel heavy/tacky and overwhelm your skin. On the other hand, if you have oily skin and you live in a tropical region where it’s always hot and humid all-year long (like me), then you might not need a moisturizer at all… well at the minimum you don’t need a separate moisturizing product if you can get the moisture from other sources e.g. toners/sunscreens. In my case, I usually just put on a sunscreen after washing my face since my sunscreen is already moisturizing enough, so I never do the toners/serums/essences/moisturizer etc. For oily skin, the motto is “less is more” so you don’t need to put on too many products on your face/skin. Keep your routine to the most minimum/basic one (e.g. washing – moisturizer and/or sunscreen).
Once again, you’ve shared fantastic, factual information with all of us. I’m in my 60’s, and spent decades trying to “control oil”. I’ve learned so much from you about the skin barrier, inflammation, the importance of moisture, sunscreen, etc, etc that I feel my skin looks much better than it has in the past. Thanks so much. I hope your Monday has been great, Dr Dray. Very grateful for you.
Avoiding inflammation improves my skin more than attempting to regulate oil. Avoid inflammation by not eating inflammatory foods such as sugar. Use acidic soap and acids such as Vitamin C, azelaic acid. Keep moisturizer and sunscreen on. Don’t scrub. Use clay masks once in a while.
Don’t overdo anything.
Thank you for validating the use of cleanser in the morning for oily skin is fine. I’m tired of people insisting that everyone should skip a morning face wash. I understand that it’s good for a lot of people’s skin but I feel too greasy when I’ve tried it. I do a light wash with a mild cleanser every morning.
Oiliest person in the world here. I can easily wash my hair 2x per day. I don’t, but I could. I’ve tried it all. Sadly, the “best” topical medicine to specifically treat oil production, winlevi, is so thick and heavy, is difficult to layer sunscreen over, and it doesn’t work very well. On the bright side, at 50, I have very few wrinkles, thanks in part to my oily skin.
Oiliest person in the world? I challenge you to a duel😜😆. Bring your derm and all your sebometries with you. The winner will have the inconmensurable honor of appearing in the Guinness World Records🍳🔝.
🧛🏻♀️🖤😉
72 years old and I still have oily chin and nose!
I’m 59 and I do too!
53 and exactly the same production than in my 20’ s😅
The Becca cosmetics brand used to make primer and foundation that stopped shine for twelve solid hours. I felt like I’d discovered my holy grail, it was truly a revelation. Then Estee Lauder bought the brand, and killed it off. Boo.
Omg I LOVED that primer! 😭
I was a teen in the mid to late 70’s. The goal was to strip as much oil from the skin as possible and to never use a moisturizer. It was, however, ok to slather baby oil all over and lay in the sun for hours. 😂 Sure wish we had you back then, Dr Dray! I wouldn’t be dealing with some of the issues I’m still dealing with today. Thanks for all you do. Happy Monday!! I hope you have a peaceful evening. 💜
My derm applied dry ice to my face in the 80’s!
Oily girl here! Hair and face my whole life. Luckily, my mom started taking me to the dermatologist early. I grew up knowing the truth about caring for my skin.
Great practical and comprehensive sunscreen information! 👍 THANKS for your video!👍Much appreciated ❤❤❤
I’m 49 and have oily shiny skin. It never bothered me that much and I must say I don’t have any wrinkles so I’m grateful to have oily skin
