  1. A good reminder. Another one from an article was to stop looking at those magnifying mirrors (unless you really need to tweeze something or something like that).

  2. YESSS, all my life I’ve been putting so much energy on hating what I call my “strawberry nose” but after starting to take better care of my skin (thanks to people like you) I noticed that if I just look at myself in the mirror without getting close my sebaceous filaments are not that big or noticeable.

  3. 1) slightly off topic, but omg, listen to doctor dray!!! my skin produced sebum today, hallelujahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! after years of insanely dehydrated skin that is always bone dry by evening, today I have a teensy bit of oil, which ofc is a good thing (i m posing in the mirror like i m a supermodel over my dewy forehead hahaha)!!! following DrD’s advice has saved me so much money & has actually improved my skin (and shrunk my pores)
    2) best advice ever! btw, I finally got my skin blackhead-free after decades of really battling them, including squeezing & picking & permanently scarring or pigmenting myself, without ever asking myself if blackheads affect my appearance. turns out, nope, they dont. and I don’t feel gorgeous when I lean in close to the mirror, I just find other stuff, like wrinkles, to obsess at. I’ve been stepping back & even doing things essentially blind (I have terrible vision w/o glasses). there’s really no reason to get closer than other people will – and anyone you are going to kiss or hug should think you are gorgeous no matter what.

  4. This is absolute fact! 😂 It’s actually the reason why I’m atleast four feet away from the mirror when I’m doing skincare.

  5. Omg thanks so much! I’m relatively comfortable in my own skin, but as of late my pores have been my nemesis so I really needed to hear this! 🤣

  6. I have mega pores from when I was maybe 11 or 12 and first hit puberty. I didn’t know to squeeze blackheads on my nose, so they just got bigger and bigger, and I would scratch but not squeeze. So a simple blackhead from literal childhood has left a permanent, noticeable stretched pore on my nose. I think skincare and acne treatment should be taught in school. People carry their scars on their face around with them for the rest of their lives.

  7. If they are large though, and you want to reduce the appearance of them (bc there is no way to actually shrink them), try a moisturizer with a silicone in the base. Silicones create a protective barrier on the skin that not only prevents water loss, but can smooth the texture that large pores may create. What you think are large pores may also be blackheads though, which you can use a bha or retinol to start combating.

  8. My husband has giant pores on his nose that get filled with sebum all the time. It doesn’t really bother him and you don’t notice unless you look close.
