    1. Yeah even though covid isn’t thought to be a bacteria but a disease potentially caused by a virus called Sars cov 2 which is still just theory btw. Either way antibacterial will do nothing against a virus. Lol and Idk if they make antiviral soap…lol

  1. Dr Dray, before I found your channel, I used that gold antibacterial Dial soap, my skin was a hot mess! Thanks to you, I now only use the dove sensitive Fragrance free soap and its amazing, makes my skin so soft and clear!! ā¤ā¤ā¤šŸ˜Š

  2. You don’t need antibacterial soap. As someone who washes their hands 50+ times a day at work. You don’t want to wreck your skin barrier.

    1. @@Alexandra-uk4vrnot a soap but try -O’keeffe’s Working hands (hand cream) .
I couldn’t apply through out the day so I applied it at night followed by Vaseline and silk/satin gloves .

  3. Hi Dr Dray! I’m a huge fan of your videos. I love it how you explain the medical side and make it sound so logical. I’m still trying to learn more about cosmetic dermatology. Could you recommend me any good book that talks about cosmetic dermatology and the chemistry behind cosmetic products that are written by dermatologists? Thanks a lot! Regards from Spain!!🄰

  4. Yes! Just like the gut, our skin has its own microbiome. If you destroy the good bacteria on your skin, it causes dysbiosis of the epidermis, which allows the bad bacteria to become the new sheriff in town.

People are overusing antibacterial products, which is counterproductive, especially for those who already suffer from acne that’s caused by an over abundance of sebum and bad bacteria.

    1. I came here to make a similar comment. The skin’s microbiome is very important! Washing with antibacterial soap would be like taking antibiotics every day when you don’t need them.

  5. I grew up playing outside in the dirt and drinking from a garden hose.

Ask me if I use antibacterial anything?!?!

I have also never taken antibiotics. My Doctor believed your body should fight.

I’m 54 and still here…and will continue to be here.

    1. Yeah let’s NOT be anti antibiotics here šŸ™…ā€ā™€ļø definitely not the point of the video

    2. Good for you… Thiugh there are illnesses that can and will kill you without Anti Biotics. So like… Let’s not demonize an essencial part of medicine.

    3. @@piplupinabasket9035 that’s not what I am being. You should have asked before making an assumption.

    4. @@jessj2530 and I am happy that antibiotics have helped you! All medications have a place in the world! 😊

  6. Exactly, the “antibaterial” label is just marketing, as long as it makes lather it cleans

    1. Technically the lather isn’t really relevant to wether or not the soap cleans. But we associate the lather with cleanliness and it also just feels nice, so part of making soap is making sure it has a nice lather.

    2. So not true!
Antibacterials, are a group of chemicals that actively kill the germs.
Some examples are alcohol, sulfur or tetracycline that u might have heard of.
Also the lathering is totally not related to cleaning as the comment above me explained it.
It is nice to “not” talk about something that u don’t know about. Not every video needs an edgy comment.

  7. Some of those people floating around in the internet are just plain scary…so glad Dr Dray is on the job…

    1. Right? Like surfactants hit the bacteria’s outer membrane and kill it and when you rinse your hands it just falls off with the soap.

Like… What even is the point of anti bacterial soap? I don’t get it… I get anti bacterial hand sanitizer or wipes… But soap? Like that you’re gonna rinse off?… What even is the point?

  8. People are obsessed with thinking everything is gross or dirty. Proper handwashing is the goal, the rest is misdirection.

  9. So disguisting how much bad info these people are passing on!:
    Thank you for sharing these.

  10. Thanks for clearing this up. There’s way too much disinformation and antibiotic resistant bacteria out there :(

  11. How do people get to that point in life thinking that all those years soap didn’t work šŸ˜‚
