Great info on this skin disorder. I’ve had it for almost 20 yrs and it doesnt go away. One thing I read online and was told by my derm is, like you said, it starts UNDER the top layer of skin in your nerve cells which causes an uncontrollable itch. You dont see anything there so you’re left wondering what’s happening? Did I get bit by a mite? In the initial onset, you scratch and scratch to qwell the itch but by rubbing/itching the skin the nodule is born.
I’ve had different treatments depending on where the nodule is located. The ones on my face usually seem to go away quicker due to applying my Olay moisturizer frequently. My right arm is full of white/light scars. I’ve noticed when on antibiotics or taking my cold sore med (Acyclovir) that the nodule will thin but this creates a problem of more itching.
Thank you so much for addressing this skin disorder and updated treatments. Covering the nodules with bandaids works best for me to avoid scratching/picking. I’m going to look into some of the treated bandaids you mentioned.
