Happy Monday everyone!
Happy Monday!
Thanks to Dr. Dray for always dropping the knowledge on the practical skin stuff!!!
thanks for watching
Oh and Vaseline stick is super helpful for hand application without getting palms greasier..
love the stick!
I have atopic dermatitis and I’ve used the Neutrogena Norwegian hand cream for years and just the other night I applied some to the lips and covered with Vaseline- GAME CHANGER
works well
@ yes ! I’ve just never thought to try it on my lips 😂
I never go outside without gloves, that has really helped my hands during the fall and winter months.
That’s a good idea!
The year?
I find using Jergens Ultra Healing lotion on my hands after washing them helps avoid getting a crack on my thumb especially during the winter. Also if a crack does start appearing, I make a point to rub Kerasal into the area and it always reverses the problem. Kerasal is the bomb!! ❤
You nailed me on practically every point of your video. Definitely even at the end, talking about nail biting (I’m a therapist but hey, we’re people too). Thanks.
I use to dread the cracking/bleeding of my hands every winter until I started following your advice about using gloves doing wet work & moisturizing ever time I got my hands wet. It totally fixed the issue! 🙌
I also started moisturizing head to toe before getting out of the shower & using sunscreen every single day because of you. My skin thanks you, Dr. Dray!
What I have learned from this channel:
#1- Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen.
#2- Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.
* I also added a humidifier to my bedroom.
This video couldn’t have come at a better time!!! I have a deep crack on my right thumb’s fingernail and I have been wondering how the heck to remedy it! I apply Cerave, but it burns. The crack really hurts too! Thank you for making this video!!
Same! Both thumbs have cracks on the corners. I have been using Okeefe’s working hands salve/cream. And I also use Liquid bandage. Nexcare is a good brand. You can find it in any first aid/bandage aisle. It sells the crack, but i find that it does require you to be very consistent to heal them. They take FOREVER to heal in the winter. I love to wash my hands, so not gonna stop doing that when they need to be washed. I guess we are doomed lol. Good luck!
Thank you for reminding us that Winter is different. ❤
To be honest, i am embarased at work because how my hands look these days. I am going to listen to video now. Glad it is posted right when it is needed! Tnk you dr Dray!
Do you use conditioner on your hair? Rub a little into the cracks.
The best thing for me is a little Neosporin at night with a bandaid and in the morning its like 80% better!! The Neosporin takes away that throbbing pain! OMG!
I do the same thing!
Great tips. Super Glue was actually used for wounds during the Vietnam war because soldiers would bleed out before they could get treatment and so they discovered they could glue the skin back together in an attempt to slow the bleeding while soldiers were being transported for actual medical care. The stuff is magical!
I really like Dove beauty bars as hand soap, especially in winter. Works very well.
I suffer from this often during the Winter. I use surgical glue from work and have also used super glue. Both of these work great for me. To help prevent cracks, I use a thick layer of Vaseline on my hands and white cotton gloves at night. Doing this has greatly helped to prevent my fingertips from cracking. Thanks for this, Dr Dray. I just know the information will help a lot of people. Happy Monday! I hope you have a blessed evening. 💚
What I do is put a drop of lotion on the cracked skin and cover it with a bandage before I sleep. By the next morning the cracked area is already much better. Keep doing that for a few days and its pretty much healed.
I am a teacher of students who are severely cognitively impaired and am constantly washing my hands. (Of course we wear vinyl gloves when needed, but still wash.) I moisturize and sleep with cotton gloves, but the fissures are unavoidable. I used to use liquid skin to seal these fissures, but then I noticed that it smells exactly like clear fingernail polish. I now buy that at the dollar store, and it works just great; much less expensive.
❤️💐
I’m suffering from cracked thumb skin, and was remembering as a child, my grandfather, who was a stonemason in the last years of the 1800s and early 1900s, in Scotland, telling me that when the stonemasons’ hands cracked in the cold, and rough work, they would pour tar into the cracks, and they healed well!! I will try the superglue method instead!!
Dr. Dray, could you please cover how to treat and prevent the cracks and sores that occur inside the nose during the winter?
