This is the second part to my Skincare Chat about Moisturizers and it’s all about Facial Oils. These are powerful ingredients that really require a good understanding of which work for what skin type. They are supremely nourishing but some facial oils can be drying and straight up astringent, while others are pore clogging or cause skin irritation, sometimes severe. Continue to keep in mind that we all have different skin and the ability to tolerate different ingredients. The categories are SIMPLE guidelines for you. A lot of these oils have multiple uses and fall under more than one category like the oils in the anti-aging one which can also be for dry skin, oily skin etc.
Since my skin can only tolerate certain oils that many others cannot, rather than featuring the oils I use, I would rather explain what is out there for all skin types. This video is purely to help you recognise ingredients in other oil blends out there or moisturisers.
Hopefully this can give you a simple guideline to the oils we hear about and see the most in formulations. If you’re using severely drying treatments like Retin A, Peels, astringent or prescription acne treatments, the right oils can really return the proper moisture back into your skin. Many oils are also great at reducing inflammation and irritation. I can’t stress enough that when buying oils, you are getting what you pay for. Some oils like Argan are so labor intensive, if you find a cheap bottle out there, it’s over processed and diluted with cheap fillers.
These fabulous oils are in a lot of the products I’ve reviewed and mentioned in previous videos so stay tuned, I will do another video with my favourite oil products.

If you mentioned coconut oil for oily acne prone skin, I was going to scream!!!!!!!!!! Thank God, someone who knows what they’re talking about
Thanks Thanks 🙏 I hope ml

Hi my name is berta iv always hade acne teenager but i use to wear make up cover my sink cus i have acne on my sink may i ask you do you know how make my sink smooths
I will also scream😂
@Gothamista Please help me, I had oily skin, but after using acne products my skin became dehydrated, and due to a medical error I used a cream containing cortisone and I had been suffering from infections due to cortisone for a period of time…until a doctor followed me and we pulled the cortisone from the skin.. But now I have dry lips, I don’t know what to use it for. It suits the nature of my very sensitive skin.
Sweet jesus i am NOT used to beauty videos actually teaching me something new. I’m glad i subscribed to you.
She is the epitome of skincare guru!!!
It is as if she is the only one who studied into these oils. Despite the huge amount of webpages that I’ve grown through
Good
🤣
Been 5 years and she’s still such a rare gem!
99% of the videos I see on here talking about this drive me crazy. You can just tell that these people probably google ‘best oils for your face’ and spend ten minutes reading about it but have no actual understanding of the oils themselves and the real pros and cons to them. Your video deserves a lot more attention. Thanks so much for being this thorough and educational! Most people still have no clue what they’re putting on their skin (A VERY IMPORTANT ORGAN) even when they’ve been told it’s healthy for them by some big youtuber lmao.
+Ara Hi! Thank you so much, I really appreciate your comment! The only reason I have so much interest in oils is because all the blends from brands are marketed to be moisturizing, anti-aging etc. only to find out the hard way that my skin was getting drier and I started to break out…and I don’t break out. I agree that many of us don’t know what we’re putting on our skin until we learn the hard way.
couldn’t agree more!!
…skin ain’t an organ hun
aymxn of course it is. It’s our largest organ.
@Luz y sombra you my friend… are correct and I will learn from my stupidity now let’s not bring this up ever again 😭🤚💅🏽
I have had oily and acne prone skin for years! I used the mixture of oils recommended for my skin type in this video. And it feels like my skin became normal overnight. Thank You!
I know! My whole life I avoided oils because of my oily skin but it turns out that it really helps. Especially, rosehip oil and tamanu
Did u use tea tree oil..what did u combine it with?
@Aanchal Chadha i use tea tree oil but not regular basis..whenever i see it i use 2 drops of it with olive oil or in my moisturiser or face pack..
@Lilas Charmante which products you use?
I am overjoyed I found your channel. I started using oils a few months ago and I was not very educated about what I was doing. This is great! Thanks so so much for taking the time to inform us. I truly appreciate it.
This was a fantastic explanation! I have a combination of skin because it is oily and acne prone, but seems to be dry after using commercial acne products for years. For two weeks I’ve taken out all products I previously used (hidden them for now, including cetaphil), and use a homemade olive oil based cold cream (it does have lavender, but doesn’t seem to irritate at all). Despite olive being better for dry rather than oily skin, my skin has healed most of the acne I had and some redness in my lower jawline from the powerful acne topical medication I used ten years ago is going down.
I’m intrigued by rosehip, jojoba, grapeseed and avocado! Tea tree is fabulous as a spot treatment.
Thank you!! I have similar skin to you, so this is really cool
This was fantastic. Couldn’t hit subscribe fast enough. I’m constantly filtering through absurd ‘new trend’ product claims and the disappointment of finding little to no ‘medical’ info on skincare products that isn’t heavily influenced by manufacturer propaganda. This was well researched and completely explained the various oils to me. I’ll definitely quote from and recommend this vid.
I absolutely love your videos. They’ve answered do many of my skincare questions. I keep re-watching for reference. Thank you for all of your hard work!
Thanks for this very useful video! Rosehip oil has made a huge difference to my combination/acneic skin, so I’m looking forward to trying some of these others. I’ve been hearing a lot about broccoli seed oil lately (for both hair and skin). Do you have any thoughts about that? I’ve read that it’s very high in vitamins C and K, but I can’t find any information on whether it’s comedogenic or not and whether it’s linoleic or oleic acid.
I used to spend so much money on Korean skincare products, but I decided to try going natural and switch over to all oils. My skin has never looked better! My favorite is a mix of rosehip and sweet almond oil. I love how minimal my routine is, too.
Thanks for actually being educational when it comes to beauty…not like the dozens of beauty gurus who are just all about hype and flourecent trends!!!
Yes indeed, that was a very thorough breakdown of all there is to know about oils. Now that I’m into diy hair and skincare mixes, I can always refer to this video for reference. Thank you so much!👍😉
Renee, as a wordsmith person I appreciate so much your concise descriptions. Thank you for being so generous in sharing your wealth of skin knowledge. Best wishes.
Hi! I’ve just discovered your videos and love how informative they are! They’ve really changed my whole skin care routine :) I’m just wondering if you have any tips for application of oils on top of other skin care so that it does not result in pilling on the skin?
Thank you for this video! I recently tried the ten step face washing routine and added oils I knew nothing about and I think that’s what broke me out. I’ve had acne prone skin since my teen years, I’m in my forty’s now and am dealing with the worst breakout of my life. When I do decide to add an oil I’ll try the rosehip oil and mix it with my Oil of Olay moisturizer that has spf of 15. New subbing here🙋🏽♀️
Thank you so very much for this enlightening video! I have a teenage daughter who has struggled with acne for a few years now. I have had a really hard time getting her to stay on a skincare regime for more than a few weeks. The information in this video helps me immensely with educating her.
While I like using essential oils, I’m so happy someone mentioned that lavender essential can be harsh (I don’t use it). I’m also glad you mentioned how citrus oils can be phototoxic. Not all of them are phototoxic (sweet orange oil is not). Most of them are phototoxic though, especially depending on the distilling method used. Again, I’m so glad someone finally decided to include this. Essential oils can be useful but only when used properly.
