I used benzoyl peroxide leave on gel 2 months past it’s expiration date during lockdown since I didn’t want to go to a pharmacy and pick up a new one. My acne got considerably worse and red too :(
If it pain pills or benzo take them I learned off the wolf of wall street. Also can confirm it workss
Pills are generally stable for years if they’ve been stored properly. Just never take leftover antibiotics.

Impeccable timing!! A half hour ago I was looking at my draw with expired Retin A Micro debating whether or not to still use them.
Would like to hear some elaboration on how or why some topical medications can become more irritating once past their expiration date. :)
It’s the product breakdown and contamination, unfortunately. Especially with acne actives. Thankfully I only have eczema so I abuse the expiration date until it stops working 🥴 Don’t be me Lmao
Evaporation can cause the product to become more potent, and exposure to air can affect stability & cause the product to break down.
@Crystal Hilton If it’s in a tube, there should be less contamination than a jar. Just make sure you store your creams properly & you should be ok. If the colour, texture or smell changes, definitely don’t use it.

A US govt study showed most medications are fine past their expiry date as manufacturers allow for a +/-10% variance in potency.
However, there are some caveats: they must be stored properly; leftover antibiotics should never be used; if the smell, texture, colour, etc has changed, do not use it; and this does not include liquids or kids’ medication.
Also, please take any expired meds to your local pharmacy for disposal. Do not put them down your drain or into the garbage.
Why can’t you throw out expired medication? Most prescription bottles say you can trash them.
Depending on the medication they may need safe disposal to prevent getting into the environment – either incineration or in the case of controlled drugs, denaturing.
My Retin A expired back in March of this year but it seems to be working normal and apparently if you store them properly after the expiry date they are still good to use but they might lose some of their effectiveness.

How do you feel about expired makeup, because we all have technically expired makeup we still use. When it is realistically a good idea to throw out powder products, your huge collection of foundations, etc?
Don’t buy foundation every time a celebrity launches a makeup line. They’re usable if stored properly. Your issue is mold, bacteria and fungi so I wouldn’t recommend using “natural” products past the expiration date because they don’t have much preservatives that last long 🤢.
Oh pffft. Of course one doesn’t “recommend” it… but tret lasts a while. I’ve put on old tret and seen the same effect: your skin still starts flaking off just like it normally would.

Yes, I have had the same experience opening and using an expired tube of tretinoin a few times. The tretinoin works the same as with my non-expired tubes.
Nearly felt attacked with my expired antihistamines I still take 😂. I accept their potential reduction in efficacy 😂😂😂
How about sunglasses? Should they also be replaced regularly? Does the sunprotection wear of with time and use?
