  1. Once I started double cleansing I saw fewer breakouts. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t get all my makeup off before. To me double cleansing is just using some kind of cleanser twice. I don’t always use the korean method.

  2. It is anecdotal but that’s not to say it doesn’t work. When i only used a face wash i always had dirt/sebum left on my skin and i had to wipe with toner. So clearly a face wash isn’t sufficient to remove all dirt and i don’t even wear makeup. Hence it’s kinda logical that if you’re using an extra cleanser which is removing all dirt and clogged pores then you have lesser chance of breakouts and dullness.

  3. Oh double cleansing works so much better for my acne prone skin. Key is to make sure your cleansers aren’t drying/ stripping and it works great 👍

  4. If you wear makeup, I believe one should double cleanse. Even after I double cleanse, if I use a toner, the toner still takes off more gunk.

    1. If your toner is still removing gunk from your face then you are not double cleanse properly or your cleaning product are not doing their job properly .

  5. Absolutely yes, you have to double cleanse at the end of the day if you’re wearing makeup or sunscreen!

    1. @Danielle Swafford You don’t need to be a dermatologist to understand that using an oil-based cleanser (or even massaging your face with oil prior to washing) will help a surfactant dissolve other hydrophobic oil or wax based substances with much more ease. I believe the subject of molecular polarity is still taught in most public high schools to this very day. 😄

  6. I have acne prone skin and I don’t double cleanse. I just cleanse my skin for a bit longer and it prevents me from breaking out 👌🏻

  7. I still use makeup remover “towel” for makeup (wet and hold, gently wipe, no rubbing) because no cleansers (double or single) would remove it without getting me frustrated and looking like a panda.. And I don’t wear much makeup! But mascara is always on my undereyes with just a wash (like barely visible dark grey filter) but I just started double cleanse because of sunscreen! And don’t feel stripped but not much else, will have to see it in few weeks

  8. It’s definitely a personal preference. I find it unnecessary in my case and often just makes my skincare routine longer(which is fine because some people might like!)

  9. I was taught to remove makeup then wash my face. From my days on stage, I would use a cleansing cream or balm to remove the makeup and a bar soap to wash with. I used Abschminke for years until my intolerances to petrochemicals and fragrances were identified. It’s too bad, because that stuff can melt any makeup easily. I followed it with Neutrogena bar soap until I discovered that the scent and tallow in it didn’t agree with my skin. I then embarked on a quest to find cleansing products that worked for me. It’s an ongoing process. As I’ve aged and moved to different climates, I’ve had to adapt my routines. But I still remove my makeup and/or sunscreen then cleanse my face.

  10. I am not acne prone at all but oil cleansers give me breakouts. Even when emulsifying properly. Is using a water based cleanser sufficient when wearing sunscreen?

  11. oil cleanser made my life so much easier. Trying to get sunscreen off was a nightmare with ordinary cleaners. A lot of people get the liquid oil cleanser 1st step wrong. There is a right and wrong way to do it. Pampered wolf, a UK lady on YouTube gives a demo how to do it correctly (hope ok to recommend it). No more sunscreen residue! I love oil cleansing now, it’s my favourite part of the day 😊

  12. “the NIH is not out here funding double blind placebo controlled trials on double cleansing” 🤣 best way to open a video

  13. I am one of those who can’t use sunscreen consistently because I always get breakout. Ever since I started double cleansing I now have four different sunscreens. 😅

  14. When it comes to double cleansing, it’s primary application is makeup removal. You don’t really need a study to tell you that oil removes makeup lol

  15. I love the double cleanse I feel it has improved my skin and it really helps get rid of everything off of your skin especially if you have on makeup. I love it.
