Your lamp looks lovely, nice choice! Thank you for trying for us and honest reviews. You have never steered me wrong. Happy Monday đđž
Thank you! You too!

I stopped buying Paulaâs choice, good products, but way too expensive.
They have gotten more $$$
I used to love it too, however it’s way too expensive now. I’m following Dr. Dray’s recommendations and use budget-friendly options for my products + Retin-A and could not be happier.
I love their spf (light blue tube). But had to stop using it cause itâs soo expensive đ„Čđ„Č
So disappointed. Her products use to be 100% wonderful. Iâve been using them since the line started. Iâd rather them have fewer products that are quality rather than the huge quantity itâs gone to. đ
The calm line was better in the past. Some of the changes were definitely for the worse
I think the company shifted the owner awhile ago? Then it start to come out with weird marketing such as 20% niacinamind. Their company used to have one of the best research for skincare. But now it is more focusing marketing.
Thank you for always giving us the honest reviews! đđđ
Thanks for watching
Dr Dray, a whole video on urea would be great! I can see from various online comments that some people still think it is related to urine in some way. It has SAVED my dehydrated skin; in only 2 weeks, during a very cold spell in an arid climate, I have been able to cut back on several layers of moisturizer, the humectant + occlusive action seems to be perfect for my mature, dry skin. Also, I am assuming the GB overnight retinol does not contain enough retinol to really affect my skin or irritate on top of the retinol (a suspect one by juice beauty that only admits to being half bakuchikol in the French packaging language) that I use 3-4 layers earlier? That GB face & body line is incredible!!!
She has several videos on urea :))
She has a few videos already. Which urea containing product are you recommending in particular? My issue is that when my skin is broken, flaky, and dehydrated urea burns!
This review was so validating! I have used the calm line for years and loved it for my extremely dry, rosacea-prone skin. I tried the new cleanser right away knowing reformulations can sometimes be for the worse…and I really hated it right away. So validating to hear you found it to be disappointing as well!!
If I am not mistaking I think Gothamista worked with Paula’s Choice for this renewal… She was so proud, too bad it is not that good, I wanted to try some of these but I think I will wait for more reviews
Pardon my apparent ignorance, but WTH is Gothamista? LOL!
@Marleen G.Gothamista is a youtuber who also works in the skincare industry if iâm not wrong (she worked with A LOT of skincare brands before although she never really talks about whatâs her job title)
Itâs not that I donât like EstĂ©e Lauder. They have some decent products, despite not being a fav company. BUT they literally stand for the opposite of what Paula originally stood for. I read all her books sheâs put out since the 80s and used to walk to the public library as a kid just to read her books. She used to give bad reviews to any product that had inflated prices. She used to be all for science backed skin care, affordable prices, and spoke out against vague marketing terms. I could afford her line on my minimum wage job as a teen. Now? The prices inflated rapidly (more so than inflation). It would cost $100-$200 a month to do a full regimen of her products. Some products use the very vague marketing terminology that I know she didnât come up with (like the Defense line that âdefends against pollution and environmental aggressorsâ). The brand flip flopped on advice that seemed to be for the purpose of selling more products. She used to say toners are optional. Now the brand says itâs a ânecessaryâ step. I know she hasnât run the company for a while now just based on how it has transformed to something I donât recognize. Read her books form the 80s and 90s to see what Iâm talking about. Thereâs a few products I will buy from them from time to time (like the BHA9 which fades my acne scars like no other). But I canât go back to using them as my primary go to brand, especially when I KNOW EstĂ©e Lauder will just end up with even more inflated prices eventually. Edit: oops, I meant Unilever. But everything else I said still stands.
I believe Unilever owns PC and not Estee Lauder. However, yes, it’s very common for brands to change when they are acquired by a big corp. Drunk Elephant also said there were products you didn’t need but once Shiseido acquired them, they started coming out with all of those supposedly unneeded products.
@d b Doh. Youâre right. I donât know why I thought it was EL. But everything I said still stands as I said. Iâll trust Paulas Choice again the day they go back to admitting that toners are optional.
I’ve been a long time fan of Paula’s Choice, but every now and then I get a product that is too strong for my skin. The foaming cleanser and the vitamin c moisturizer are two recent purchases that didn’t work for me. My favorite products from PC tend to be the moisturizers fro dry skin.. They really are good.
PC has gotten more expensive the past 5 years – i’ve been a loyal customer for their sunscreens, especially, and they’ll be getting that coin until i find a more affordable options- i just can’t find anything else that suits me and is the same quality for a better price point (resist anti aging tinted sunscreen.. HOLY GRAIL)
Dr Dray, I just can not not tell how I love your new hairstyle. Been watching you for years now, and you look only better! Thank you forever for all the knowledge & hope you’re doing amazing.
I love all Paula’s Choice products, but the price is just too expensive now, so I buy Eucerin, Bioderma, Cerave, Geek & Gorgeous and a few korean brands instead. Too bad for me, love them though đ
Their sunscreens are so nice đđđ
I have been a huge fan of Paula’s Choice for years. I use their 1%Retinol w/ Vit.C, Azelaic Acid Booster, and the Calm line serum. I will say this though, outside of their serums, the rest of their products are not that great, and their moisturizers are terrible. I’ve tried almost all of the moisturizers, and they all either feel weird, smell awful, pill, or make my skin feel itchy. Everything she described about the Calm moisturizer checks out for most of the others as well.
Hey Dr Dray, just wanted to let you know every morning i shave my face, i look forward to ur daily videos so i can listen to what you have to say about different stuff, your videos are my favorite part of the morning routine! I would love it if you made a video about shaving products/razors/ how to deal with redness and a proper shaving routine!!
Iâve been using Paulaâs Choice for decades. The only âmust haveâ for me is the Ultra Light Super Concentrate Antioxidant Serum. Itâs the only PC product Iâd pay full price for. Luckily PC has regular sales here in the US. When thereâs a good sale I will sometimes buy something new to try, some Iâve liked and repurchased but never at full price. Dr Dray is right these products have become over priced compared to what you can get elsewhere.
Thanks for the review. I find the “improved” PC products perform worse. They changed the hydrating gel moisturizer to a very silicony one; now I can’t use it in summer because it’s too heavy
I love the clear products. The omega products.
I miss the “old” beautypedia. It used to do such a great job comparing products, ingredients, performance, price, packaging.
I used to follow it with complete trust, til they said everything Drunk Elephant was perfect, and then I realized one of Paula’s people had moved to DE. That put me off a lot.
I LOVED Beautypedia!
Yes, †old Beautipedia. Paula sold Paulaâs Choice so a lot has changed there besides the price point. They used to have a 100% money back guarantee which I have used before. I donât know if they still do that.
it should do the opposite and increas your trust if PC/beautypedia was praising a competitor brand, especially if one of their own had moved on to work with them instead of PC.
Thank you Dr Dray for sharing your thoughts on the Paula’s choice skincare. I did use some of their products when Paula was more involved in her company back in 1995. The company has been acquired by several different companies, the latest being Unilever in 2021. I love my Neutrogena products , friendly on the wallet and my skin is happy â„
Thanks for sharing and saving me from PC/Unilever products!
I was a huge fan of Paula’s Choice back in the day, when Paula was actually running the company. Since selling it though, the product line has ballooned to the point of over-saturation of the same key ingredients in 100 different varieties. Paula also used to call toners an unnecessary waste of money, but now they carry several. The prices have also gone way up, putting them in a more luxury tier of skincare. I continue to use a couple of her products religiously, and am relieve they haven’t been reformulated (yet), but I feel they’ve completely lost touch with their original philosophy and I just wish they’d scale back their line a bit. I also wonder why they no longer offer makeup — I hadn’t tried much of it, but it made sense, given her career history and the books she wrote.
Sounds like the Aveeno âCalmâ line has better products at a better price! Thanks to your recent video just tried the moisturizer and I think itâs going to be my new night cream! Thx Dr Dray đ
