This makes me think of how the famous louis armstrong had satchmos syndrome! Sometimes he played with such force his lips would burst very painful indeed!
Your lips usually have to have an embouchure suitable for the instrument to begin with. You can also break down your lip structure. Louis Armstrong apparently took up singing because his mouth was too damaged to play his horn.

LOL. I was born with fuller lips and am a professional flutist. Playing the flute 7 hours a day for years only gave me premature lip lines hahaha (which I don’t regret)

Band sure but not orchestra. When I was in orchestra (played for 10 years) we only had string instruments…we only used our fingers 😅 … what instrument was she playing??
I thought it was standard to have flutes, clarinets and trumpets in an orchestra. I’ve never seen an orchestra performance without those :O

1/4 of an orchestra are string instruments. The other 3/4 are wind instruments.
