Good morning Dr. Dray! Thank you for this. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read a review that says “don’t buy this it’s just water” and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes 😂 I also tried a toner that didn’t have water and it broke me out so bad.. I’m NOT saying that was the reason because I understand that correlation does not equal causation but it is interesting.
I also had an acne specialist tell me to get rid of all my jar packaging because it was contributing to my breakouts 🤦♀️
Thanks for watching
@Dr Dray Might want to change your camera settings so you’re not overexposed. The light is blowing you out.
@Dr Dray, can you please do a video on Piroctone Olamine and good products that contain this ingredient?
Good morning Dr Dray! Thank you for this video :) Your consistency is my life goal lol.
#1 skincare myth is to belive in one size fits all rules such as having to moisturizer 2/day. Tons of people moisturize once a day, or few times a week and they have great skin.
it’s an heresy to believe that moisturizers who are mainly emolients are absolutely necessary twice a day for everyone and that your skin has absolutely no natural ways to maintain itself and will melt if you don’t respect that myth.
Think about it, you shampoo your hair, soap your body and just leave it after showering. Most people don’t mosturizer their body and their skin can still be good, non flaking, and skin barrier not disrupted. So why would you think that the face that specifically has high density of sebaceous glands and other characteristics to help it self moisturizer, would absolutely need 2/day moisturizer.
I personally moisturizer 1/ day in the morning by just using an spf, at night I use just retinoid. This routine gave me the absolute best results compared to other routines that included layering, serums, moisturizing 2/day before and/or after retinoids etc.
And some of us could moisturize 5 times a day. 😊
@Lynn Harris Yeah there’s all kind of needs, those with eczema for example have very special needs
Depends on your age and skin tone. I’m 62 and really need to moisturize my body and face much more than I did when I was younger.
I adore you Dr.Dray..I’m a medical esthetician for 40+ yrs…and I tried so hard to educate my patients…I’m retired now and I referred them to your YouTube channel and continue to be educated…Thank you
Thank you for this video! Especially for talking about the myth of higher percentages and higher positions in ingredient lists, I hear a lot of people say this in relation to expensive skincare justifying high prices this way
Love this video! Thank you for your straightforward delivery, it’s so clear and concise😊 Question: I’d love a video with information about injury skincare– skincare after getting a cast off or preventing nail fungus from a closed boot or surgical scar care etc. I just had a neuroma excision and I’m curious.
Thanks again for another hugely informative and helpful video, you deserve a public service award. Love your content, personality, kindness and inclusivity – have a very happy Monday!
This was super helpful, Dr. Dray. I was under some misconceptions for sure. Helps to know the truth.
Dr dray, you are awesome. Thanks for educating us. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for going in to such detail, and focusing on some Myths that others have not !👋
Dr Dray, I am a 60 year old female that has had terrible skin since childhood. I have seen MANY dermatologists over the years, took Accutane TWICE in my teens and twenties, and up until last year continued to fight with my skin. But last year I found YOU and my skin has never looked better. I finally found a dermatologist that could explain in detail what I needed to do, what ingredients to use and how to use them. I continue to watch you and pass this education down to my kids. (I’m gifting my 30 year son some 2.5% BenzolPeroxide for his armpits! Lol)
Thanks again for all your educational videos and especially covering dupes for all the expensive crap. 🥰 Sincerely, Teri
P.S. We live in Waller (close to Plantersville!) If you are ever this far north of Houston, I would love to buy you a coffee!
I gave them away for armpit too

I wish you could know how much you have changed my skin care & body care over the course of watching your videos. I’m 77 & feel as if I have relearned almost everything skin care related. I really didn’t start using or caring about skin care until my 40’s, which I can’t believe now! But, all this rambling to say, thank you!!
Re: the airless pump, Lab Muffin has recent shorts dispelling the myth of airless pumps being better. She’s also talked about jar packaging being fine due to preservatives.
Love her, never knew the value of the chemist until I started watching her
Yes, between Lab Muffin And Dr Dray, we are far better informed, without marketing BS!😊
0:34: 💦 Water is an essential ingredient in skincare products and plays a crucial role in enhancing penetration and spreading of active ingredients on the skin surface.
3:52: 💡 Niacinamide has anti-aging effects and benefits for the skin, but high percentages in products can cause irritation and may not be effective.
7:38: 📦 The myth that skincare products in jars are less effective than those in dropper bottles is debunked.
10:57: 🔑 The effectiveness of skincare ingredients depends on the overall formula and delivery system, not just the concentration.
14:18: 🔑 The percentage of glycolic acid and the pH level of the product greatly affect its exfoliating properties, and switching between different brands may yield different results.

WOW..I’m 70 and have been believing these myths for a LONG time, proving you are never to old to learn! Thanks Dr Dray!!!
Why do others’ 11-minute videos feel like forever and Dr Dray’s 17-minute video feels like it’s never enough?
I love the education I get from this channel. It helps me help patients that come in with questions and needing product recommendations.
I have heard a lot of the myths you mentioned in this video. Thank you for bringing this to light!
Thanks, Dr Dray! I can always count on you to continue to educate me. As always, I appreciate your hard work. Happy Monday! I hope you have a peaceful evening. 💙
I have watched your videos daily for years at this point and my husband has become aware of your videos through me. He would always say “is that sunscreen and subscribe!?” And it evolved from there. Skip a few years ahead and he wanted something to help him apply lotion to his back and he called me so proud saying that he consulted Dr. Dray’s videos before purchasing something! He cracks me up. Thank you, Dr. Dray for sharing your knowledge with us! Much love from the east coast!
